DP Show's Seton gushes about ISU

Yeah. If you're a running back with NFL potential, you get to the league as fast as you can. The shelf life of running backs is ridiculously short, right now. You need to be as young as you can, to maximize earning potential.

Yup. When you consider that there's virtually no way he isn't drafted, he's got to get his guaranteed money while he can.

Not to mention the committee of Nwangwu, Lang, and Croney.

The staff will add Breece Hall and as mentioned Jirehl Brock. There will be talent that can grow with Purdy next year.
Montgomery is special and I would enjoy watching him in Ames one more year but he is pushing to being the first RB off the board in the draft and needs to take advantage of that.

O.K. Saying Purdy nails down the starting qb job, highly likely at this point. We have Mitchell also. I dislike speculating on players, but you think he switches positions?

Agreed. I wouldn't blame either he or Butler a bit if they jumped after this season. Both deserve to play in the NFL.

It was amazing to see Butler just dominate the WVU defenders. They had no answer for him. Just flat out couldn't cover him. He looked like a beast out there.

Dr. Pepper show?

Yeah, probably that kind of DP.

Next year would be a blast if Montgomery and Butler came back to compliment Purdy, our top two TE's, and another year of seasoning for our o-line, but I don't see it happening either. Those guys are looking at some nice paychecks and they need to go before putting anymore more miles on themselves than absolutely necessary. Same with Lima on the defensive side of the ball.

Montgomery is the best back I've seen in Ames since the Davis brothers, so while I'm excited about Hall, Brock, and the guys we'll have returning, it's not going to be a deal where we just move on, business as usual. I'm even more concerned about replacing the big, physical receivers we have in Butler and Eaton. Between them and Lazard we've been really spoiled the last couple years.

Enjoy 'em while we have 'em. Hopefully Campbell's recruiting efforts will bring these types of players around more often but compared to our history, a lot of these guys are once every 10-20 year type of talents.

I agree with most everything you said... however, I think DM is the best back ever at ISU. And I have watched ISU RBs in person, all the way back to Dexter Green.

His inability to be tackled by one defender after the catch - as a wide receiver - is something I don't recall seeing before in a college player. He seems to just have a mentality that I'm not going down.

It was mind blowing how many times WV played straight man on Butler with no safety help over the top. Not sure what WV was thinking but Butler is a man among boys.

He'll also no doubt be one of the top, if not THE top RB candidate in the draft. Would I love to see him play out his full career at ISU, sure, but I'd rather see him be rewarded for all his hard work. He's a great kid and he deserves everything good that comes to him.

I don't see anyway Montgomery is back. Signing both Hall and Brock would have been quite the feat if they thought he was gonna be back. Butler is probably gone but if he gets a mid round grade I could see him playing 1 more year.

He's freakishly strong and always has been. It's bordering on weird how strong he is as far as function.

I sure hate to get into a "who is better" argument but how can a running back who rushed for two consecutive 2000-yard seasons - the only back to do so in NCAA history - and was a Heisman runner-up NOT be the best running back in ISU history?

How soon we forget
