Does this score bother anybody else?

I thought it hard to believe that OSU could fall off that fast, but, I don't know. That seems like a pretty big win. Maybe Heskett leaving was big. I just don't like to see a kid that was committed to ISU (Taylor) have that kind of success, but I guess I better get used to it. I know we have to look down the road, but fans are fickle. They have a kid at 125 that's 12-0. Do they sit him when Long comes in, or is Long going 133? Just wondered? They're #5 now. We'll see how the duals play out. Why was it that some of these kids couldn't have come to ISU? Don't know.

Wow, that is a beatdown. Three pins and a couple majors. Wish Cael's guys would have wrestled that aggresively at ISU.

For one thing OSU's best wrestler Steiber is hurt, he would have probably pinned their 125lber at the very least majored him. Second Taylor is very good, sucks he didn't come to ISU, however Sponseller is cutting a ton of weight and an interview right after the match w/ the coach confirmed as much stating he'd be back up to 165 next meet. TOSU lost a lot of good wrestlers last year, but they have some great ones waiting in the wings, i also think Palmers little bro got injured too... Having said that PSU is setting up to be a dynasty, hate to say it, but Cael's recruiting is off the charts. Now Cael could have gotten some of the recruits to come to ISU no doubt, but its easier to get them when they don't have to go across the country to wrestle, most of the top high school guys are from the PA area or surrounding states, so you don't really have to sell the proximity thing. Hopefully we can keep up because as we know it's all about development, talent will take you only so far....

Cael's teams were more aggressive than most people seem to want to give them credit for. You can't judge him solely on Varner and Zabriskie. Fanthorpe was very aggressive when healthy, as was Gallick. Mueller got after it but should have been a '41 pounder as he was hurt the most by everybody bumping up after their freshman year. Cyler was always aggressive, although he regressed as he got older. The Paulsons and Backes were much more aggressive in their one year under Cael than they ever were under Douglas. Those were just a few examples. Caels biggest shortcoming was his inability to coach his guys up for their biggest matches. He will never be short on talent at PSU. If he improves his coaching, which he should as he is still VERY young, he will turn them into a legitimate wrestling powerhouse. It sucks for us, but it is what it is.

As Crooksie stated, tOSU was missing a couple of their horses so the score is worse than it would have been. The lineup up tOSU had out there is not a top 15 team. As for Taylor, he is an excellent wrestler. Out of everything we lost out of the Cael fiasco, I was most disappointed about not having him show up. I don't know if he's 4x Champ good but he is 4x AA good and he will win mulitple national championships. It will be fun to watch Taylor against the top guys at 157 to see where he stacks up. That said, I have no idea what Sponseller was doing cutting to 157 but it was obviously a failed, short lived experiment.
