Diamond Ring warranty?

Just wondering if anyone has any insight into purchasing the ring "warranty" that jewelers offer. I don't remember the exact details, however the jeweler is Greenberg's. It costs around 170..(all purchases come with the standard warranty). I believe most jewelers offer something similar.

And another question, would you get a separate policy on a 5000$ ring? Or would you place it under your general property insurance?

Any help is appreciated!

Not sure I'm reading right - so you're getting a standard warranty and they are offering additional protection for $170?

Get the ring appraised independently and use that to get a rider for your insurance. It should be less than $100 a year.

Wife has a ring valued at $11,000. Got an inland marine insurance policy for it that costs all of $100/yr.

I'd get a separate policy and screw the so called warranty.

If you are buying something from a jeweler you shouldn't need a warranty on it else you aren't buying very good quality. You do need to put it on your home or renters insurance though in case it is lost or stolen.

Add to homeowners/renters insurance policy if you're worried about it. Don't pay for a warranty they're just a scam to pull extra money from you upfront.

Wife and I did the exact same thing, for the exact same cost from State Farm.
