As an 'insider' to this industry, I would also suggest 'prepackaged' sliced meats are generally safer than 'freshly sliced' ones from deli counters. Why? because the facilities that do the pre-packaging have generally stricter cleaning procedures, testing, etc. Also the packaging process is also designed to prevent nasties growing.

Also, 'freshly sliced' doesn't mean the meat itself is any fresher...

Is this worth worrying about? 28 people sick out of how many millions of people that have eaten deli meat over the last 1-2 weeks?

Are your odds of having an issue literally 1 in a million? Or is it more common than that?

2 dead, 28 hospitalized, but your point is valid. Safety first - ban the automobile!

Is deli meat considered...good?
F to the no.

Eating high amounts of processed meats can increase the risk of heart disease, cancer and diabetes. This is related to many factors, but one culprit is sodium.

It’s healthier than a burger, thus too healthy.
Now you health nuts are trying to tell me I can't have my burgers? First bacon now this.

That's it it's time to delete this thread @JP4CY

They are coming after my 2 food groups. Bacon and Red Meat.

Burgers are great. It’s the bun, all the fries, ketchup…
