I’m glad people are more open about talking about mental health! Because I can tell you, it’s damn hard. I am going through a very tough time now and have been for about a year. I just recently started talking about it out loud to people. I found a therapist I like. I’ve said more to her than I’ve ever said to anyone out loud. It is helpful. I’m still not where I need to be but I am now doing what I need to do to get there and that feels great. Mad respect for David Montgomery!

I’ve told this before but: Tailgate tour between his fresh/soph year before he was “David Montgomery”, little JM and I sat and talked to him for over 20 minutes. Longer than I ever talked to player at one of those, back when they used to also attend them, There was level of genuineness and authenticity to him at that was undeniable. We talked about multiple different things not just related to football and I’m sure it sounds like BS but I told those I went with afterwards that that kid is different, there’s something special there. I had no idea he’d be a top tier NFL back but I’m not surprised and damn glad he’s a Cyclone. I’ll always be a huge Montgomery fan. He’s awesome and always has been.

Glad he's doing well now

Man that moved me to tears. Mental health is no joke and I'm glad David is in a much better place now. Don't ever be afraid to really reach out to someone and tell them you love them, or appreciate them, because that small interaction can make all the difference.

That guy there is one of the toughest men around, and just shows that mental health is not about toughness.
I would argue people with mental health issues are tougher than people without because you're expected to act like nothing is wrong. So many people are fighting things invisible to the general population.

I consider David Montgomery to be an uncommon man amongst uncommon men. One of one. He is a shining example of good in this world.

It just goes to show you how anyone can be susceptible to the highs and lows of life / mental health, especially in a high profile position chock full of social media haters.

Choose to be kind to people…it actually takes less effort than to be unkind. You never know when an interaction you have with someone could be like David’s nephew. He may have saved his life.

I’m glad he’s doing better and has the courage to talk about it. I was going to say some besmirching about the Bears organization but decided not to.

One of my favorite Cyclones of all time. Such a great human being. Sad story but inspiring he was able to get through that and share it.

We talk alot about those that turned this program around (CMC, BP, etc...)
Personally, DM was the one that reinvigorated my long dormant interest in clone football.
Work ethic, redefined.
Not a Lion's fan, but I can't root against David.

Yes a lot of players get thrown out there, but it really was DM above all that set the culture of player driven leadership. As a Freshman he was the one getting guys to show up at the facility on nights and weekends.

The stuff about fantasy...I'd guess that's Fantasy Football? Some jackbag needed more fantasy points from him and cut him up online I'd guess?

**** those kinds of people.

Very open and honest discussion and then his openness about how he responded is just a great message for many.

Cut out the noise and focus on valuing what you can control.

New 2 year contract with Lions.
18,5 million, thru 27.
Hope this buys David degrees of happiness.
I think he's found the perfect organization. Him and Gibbs are a dynamic duo
