Thread to thank David for being an all time great Cyclone. 2 time national champ, 3 time finalist, 4 time AA (5 with Covid), helped bring back Iowa State to glory and one of the all time best Cyclones. Can’t believe we’re done watching him compete in an Iowa State singlet but man was it fun. Here’s to hoping for many national teams and Olympic gold medals. Thank you for being a Cyclone David Carr

Not to mention, a great role model for anyone, wrestler or not
He’s as genuine as they come. Awesome with kids at home duals or anytime anyone wants time from him. He’s a fantastic human. I had proud dad vibes watching him go out a champ. He’s the best.
A couple of years ago he was on a flight from Denver to Des Moines with me. Poor guy was stuck in the middle seat. He couldn't have been nicer to everyone.
I will miss his genuine enthusiasm, high-fiving and signature-signing at every home meet. Pretty sure he made some kids very happy, and he’s a great role model for all.
He will go down as a Top 5 cyclone for me. He is the face of this next generation of Iowa State wrestling. Thank You!!!

But I do know when the refs try to **** you out of your title. Thank God above he had you.
I've never seen such quickly called stall calls.
One stall was called while David was FINISHING A TAKEDOWN!
Man they really didn't want him to win.
So happy for David and the Carr family.
Can't wait to see his career continue. Not a matter of if just a matter of when he's a world medalist

Great post. I’m so happy he went out on top. I was going absolutely nuts during his semi final and finals win.
Can’t possibly sum up what he has meant to this program. Class act on and off the mat, and an amazing wrestler! Hope he stays in Ames for a long time.
