I liked them both equally for different reasons. DK is good but massively overrated by it's fanbase.

+1

just noticed your post after I posted mine. I own DK but don't get what the fuss is about. Have an actor die before the release of your movie and you have yourself a gold mine. It was a good movie and Ledger was great, but please. I won't argue with those that loved it. I'm not interested in changing minds.

Yep, it's like The Crow. Good enough movie (much better in TDK's case), with a standout performance by one individual (phenomenal in Ledger's case) who then happened to die. Instant cash cow.

TDK was very good - Ledger was most of what made it that way. The story wasn't as good as the first one. It's certainly not all-around one of the best films ever made - you can't mention this in the same breath as The Godfather, Citizen Kane, or The Shawshank Redemption. It's outstanding as an action film with an exceptional performance, but it is still an action film at heart.

Ironman was a very good action film with a great performance by RD, Jr., as well - but it wasn't quite as good as The Dark Knight. Gwenyth Paltrow is certainly prettier than Maggie Gyllenhall, though.

I dont like Superhero/comic movies (ie Batman's, Spider Man's, Fantastic 4,Hulk, etc) but I loved Iron Man. I dont know why but this movie appealed to me. Plus I love the Audi that he drove in the movie

My take on the Dark Knight was that I absolutely HATE batman movies. But the Dark Knight was one of the best movies I have ever seen in my life. I even avoided watching the movie because I didn't want to hear about how good Ledger was and then he died so I figured it would be overrated, but I argue that it's not overrated. Once I saw it - yes it was that amazing!

Truth here. It's not even as good as Batman Begins.

Iron Man's more fun, has interesting characters, and isn't emo. And Dark Knight turned Two Face into a message instead of a villain. Easy win.

Maggie is a mutt and the fact that 2 guys in that movie loved her made it even more unrealistic. The man without a face...give me a break.

I liked both, but I thought TDK was the best movie of the year

Agree on all points. The Crow did kick *** though. Was a great "Dark Hero" movie.

Just highlighted the World's Most Overrated Movie. It's fantastic but it's on so many #1 lists I'm amazed. Come on! It's a movie about a sled!

Agree. Ironman is a better movie. TDK was worth watching, but it's overrated by critics and fans. If not for Ledger's performance, it would even be a disappointment.

...but supposedly "Rosebud" was something dirtier outside of the movie.

I honestly didn't care for the end, but the rest was quite good. I could replace it with The Wizard of Oz, Sunset Boulevard, It's a Wonderful Life, Silence of the Lambs, Casablanca, A Clockwork Orange... all great films. Better choices?

I liked Sunset Boulevard a lot. Thought that was a pretty good flick. An oldy that I think was great, was Some Like it Hot. Who thought they would make a movie about guys in Drag in the 50's? And it was directed and Written by the same guy that did Sunset Boulevard, Billy Wilder.

Another overrated Classic which I didn't like at all was Shane. The acting by the little kid in the movie was downright atrocious. It's usually ranked as one of the Best Western's ever and I'm appalled that is. Maybe because it was one of the first films that actually did the lonely cowboy guy that saves the day and rides off into the sunset theme.

I'm actually more of a modern era guy for films. Whenever anyone asks me my Top 10 list I usually come up with films that have been made in the last couple of decades.

I just saw this topic and I cannot believe that Dark Knight is considered to be a better movie.

Frankly, Dark Knight was about 16 hours too long. Or maybe it just FELT like a 24 hour long movie. I mean, that sucker just. wouldn't. end.

The Joker character was "vague". I still haven't figured out what was supposed to be so great about it, except for the jack*ss who played The Joker had the great business sense to die, so he is now a "great actor" based on sympathy points, alone.

Morgan Freeman is STILL vastly overrated. It's like the guy has one gear, and never gets out of it. He is the punch line of actors. He has like one dramatic line a movie, where he raises his eyebrows, which exhausts his acting "talent".

Christian Bale < Morgan Freeman, acting ability-wise.

The "plot"? Totally predictable. (Though the attempt to paint Batman back into the "anti-hero" role as originally envisaged was laudable), they spent 30 minutes yakking about how they were going to do so. And made the point again, and again, and again, and again... WE GET IT!!! All right? Batman's an "anti-hero". Enough, already of the "wallowing in the misery" b.s..

Iron Man, on the other hand? Whoa. What's cooler than a flying rocket suit? And constant sexual innuendo? (Pepper Potts? Niiiiiice! And how about the movie line of the millenium: "It's not like it's the worst thing you ever walked in on me doing.) And drinking? And who saw THAT ending coming?

Of course, the bad guy in Iron Man was stupid, as well. It's ALWAYS the evil corporation. Duh! Now that movie makers cannot be prejudiced against ethnic groups, they only have coporations, Christians and Republicans to symbolically lynch; because they, as a corporate group are incapable of stepping out of "Jim Crow" mode.

And, oh yeah, skinny dudes with British accents. They're evil too....

Most critics think IronMan is better. Usually I disagree with them but not this time. Iron Man for me
