Cy's Locker Room Ad

The funny thing is the ad makes me not want to buy anything from there.

I am not the most handsome guy in the world but the people in the ad are not even good to look at. Now if you had some true models that were hot, we could all "suffer" through it.

Same here. I'm the type of person that if I find a commercial on TV overly annoying or unbearable, I will go out of my way to not buy the product. Example #1: The Wendy's hot juicy burger commercials.

The ad is terrible. It hurts my ears, especially the mother and son bit, and the end with the entire group. Those kids yell with ear piercing pain. NOTHING about the ad is CUTE. The first time I saw it, I hated it. The second time I saw it, I told my wife that this thing is going to get really old. The third time I saw it, I sighed and cringed. The fourth time I saw it, I got angry. The next time I see it, I will probably jump out of the stands and hurt some random kid just because they remind me of the ad.

I HATE IT. I'M SO ANGRY NOW. WHY DID YOU HAVE TO REMIND ME OF THIS AD? AHHHHHH! STUPID CY BOOK. STUPID CONE THINGY. STUPID KID WHO IS NOT CUTE. IT'S LIKE A BURNING RAGE OF ANGER BUILDING IN MY BELLY!

Thanks for your responses. I've composed an email and sent it off to the athletics department. I'll start there and at some point shift over to the Iowa State University Book Store (UBS) to continue the discussion.

While you're at it, do you mind sending off an email to Hy-Vee about their insipid Cy-Hawk ad. My god, they've been playing this same stupid ad for 3 years now!? I'm so sick of it.

I'm sure anyone with little kids are probably saying "thanks a lot, now my kids are wanting me to go buy some overpriced stuff they just saw."

Play that at halftime and please change it so we don't have to see the same one all the time! Maybe even just show people in the crowd wearing licensed merchandise?

Holy worst ad in the history of advertising... It needs to be changed and played either before the game, or during halftime. It just kills during a timeout.

Haha, the lady that is saying that with the kid knows how dumb it is... you can tell by the expression on her face. She's thinking "oh my god this is the worst commercial ever, everyone is laughing at me!"

Well, at least they got rid of the Apple Shuffle. I didn't mind the ad when the sound was off and the second time I heard it I still held out hope that it wouldn't be terrible. I was convinced that the ad was going to ask different people throughout the season so it wouldn't be the same kid screeching at me all season. I turn away and cringe every time I hear it now. It is awful.

The Cenex ad is only about 10 seconds, which I can definitely deal with... I laugh every time I see it. However this Cy's Locker Room ad feels like it is 2 minutes long and includes ear-piercing screams from little girls. It's not professional at all.

*edit* I will admit, I did laugh the first time I heard the little girl talk about her Cy Book... but after about the 4th time watching it, it got old.

The ad does need to go or get a "facelift." Show clips of Cy buying items and doing stuff with them, but the ad as it is needs to be played either during halftime or not at all.

Don't feel bad about the Cenex ad, they also play it at Kinnick during games, but the Cy's Locker Room ad is downright dogcrap. Children screaming at the top of their lungs makes me want to kill a kitten.

I received a response from the Associate Director of Marketing from the Iowa State Athletic Department. My request has been forwarded to Cyclone Sports Properties and have not heard back. They intend to switch the commercial a few times throughout the year, but gave no other details.

... and I hope they don't show that commercial again tonight.
