It was me, and I will continue to follow that same logic always. I think more often than not, if you follow the proven results it will lead you correctly.

We know what we’re getting with Terukina, and we don’t with Meza. Simple as that. People on this board were saying Grice was clearly the better guy at 125 too, oh and don’t forget Osmany?

I have evidence for Terukina, not for the others. If Meza goes out and places at Vegas and knocks off a couple top 20 guys,I’ll be impressed. Until then he’s beaten a bunch of non-NCAA qualifiers and some D3/NAIA guys. Looks very talented, but what actual evidence points to him being better than Terukina?

FWIW, I also feel the same about MJ/Euton. I’ve seen what MJ can do, and haven’t seen the same from Euton. He’ll get his chance and if his results are actually better than MJ against good competition, we’ll all be very happy.
For me the problem is Terukina has peaked. And it’s nothing that has gained us much of anything. Put in the guys who are younger and roughly at the same level if rumored wrestle off results are to be believed. Absolutely no point in trying to wring more production out of a senior who has never earned more than a half point at nationals.

For Gaitan and Euton I am truly confused there, do you prefer Riggins over Euton at this point or why would you be advocating for Gaitan over Euton? This has been a constant source of confusion for me over the past week. Why do people want Riggins in the lineup over literally anyone. We don’t have to choose between Gaitan and Euton, we are choosing the best two between euton gaitan and Riggins and the choice there seems crystal clear.

I miss all the action that 141-174 brought last year with Ech, Casey, Chittum, Carr and Gaitan
Good point. We're missing 80% of the meat of our lineup, plus Frost is just getting his weight under control and Younger has gotten on the mat only once & finding his gas tank. Frustrating now but CKLV will be a turning point hopefully.

This. Last year we took a couple of dual losses, ended up being a good tournament team.

Excited to see how the team fares at CKLV in a tournament setting, and especially excited to see if that gives us a sense of our post-new year lineup.

Many would argue we don't know what we are getting with Terukina. He can go out and beat a majority of AA's or he can fall flat on his face. You don't know which result is coming. I agree with the point I think you are trying to make is that Kysen has the potential to win almost any match and the potential for Meza is still unknown. I'm hoping CKLV solidifies the potential for Meza.

If I recall @H82Lose was the only one really high on Grice.

I was high on Grice based on what I had seen/heard from the summer. I think Meza has just taken a major step in the last couple of months with full-time training in the room

Yes, there was multiple high in Grice.

When one wrestler is proven in competition, and the other only has stories from the room, I favor the proven wrestler until there is data to support the switch.

I would argue that Kysen has proven to be consistently inconsistent. The talent is there (beaten Barnett twice), but he has always been up and down. His best post-season result is winning 1 consolation match at NCAAs and his best seed was still in the 20s. I think the staff would be smart to send Meza to Vegas just to see what we have there. If he struggles, I am fine with going back to Kysen. If Meza impresses, I think he has a strong case to be the 125 for the year.

But you don't get that data unless you put them on the mat. Your argument that a true freshman isn't "proven" in November of the season makes little sense. Finally, I think the coaches know more than you do (shocker, I know) so if they put Meza out there, I'm trusting their decision.

I 100% agree. While Kysen is definitely proven inconsistent, Meza has not yet proven anything other than beating not good wrestlers.

Excited to see him in Vegas.

Agree. I’m just telling all the message board posters to pump the breaks. According to message board, we should be throwing KT to the curb and Meza is the guy. It’s way too soon to say that.

FIne. Also, to your post above, I think Meza has proved something: defeated a ranked wrestler under the lights at Carver.

To me, I’m rolling with Meza at Las Vegas.

Kysen did not place last year and lost to Richard Castro Sandoval, who quite frankly had a bad year.
