Fansided's the Sixers Sense posits today that Georges' signing was the best off-season move by Philly:

This summer the 76ers signed Georges Niang to a two-year, $6.7 million contract, and the difference between he and Scott is already night and day. Take into account that the sample size is small, but the numbers so far are pretty absurd. Niang is averaging 9.8 points per game, which is head and shoulders above his previous career high. The Sixers’ offensive rating when he is on the floor is a video-game level 134.

We heard throughout the offseason how impressed the coaches and players were with how much he could do on the court, and he’s proving them right so far. He has shown a decent ability to put the ball on the floor and has shown that he’s a solid passer and knows how to find the open man. Most importantly, he’s shooting an absolutely scorching 54.5 percent from 3 on a career high 4.4 attempts per game. He’s going to cool off at some point, but if he can shoot over 40 percent on that level of volume for the season, this signing is a massive steal.

I know what you’re thinking: “Sure, Niang has been great, but he’ll never have a nickname as cool as the Threegional Manager.” Well, that’s where you’re wrong. Utah Jazz fans knew Georges Niang as “The Minivan,” because he’s slow and not always pretty look at, but he’s reliable. Watch him play and you’ll see that the nickname really does fit. He’s not the flashiest option but he’s there for you when you need him.

Tyrese had a typical stat-stuffing game in a road win over the Pelicans. His line: 31 MIN, 17 PT, 7-12 FG, 1-2 3PT, 2 REB, 8 AST, 1 BLK and 2 TO.

The Kings move to 3-2. Hali is averaging about 11 ppg after that slow start. He's started every game. Harrison Barnes has been terrific. It'd be awesome if they could get into the playoffs in the wide-open West.

So slick with his passing:

Same. Was just following on stat tracker while watching the world series. Hopefully the Kings get some games on ESPN and TNT soon.
Sacramento is a small market and all but that's a really fun, young team. I'm looking forward to seeing them.

When Fox gets going he is fun to watch. Buddy is easy for me to cheer for, and Mitchell from Baylor is going to be a stud.

Tyrese has been a bit slow to get going on offense, but he got it going in the fourth tonight.I think it was about 11 pts to close it out.

The Nuggets blew open their game vs. Dallas in the 3rd quarters and so no starters played more than 27 minutes. I thought Monte looked in control yet aggressive in the 2nd quarter, when he had 6 points on mid-range jumpers.

Monte's line: 24 MIN, 4-6 FG, 0-1 3PT, 1 REB, 3 AST, 1 BLK and 1 TO.

And several mentions of Iowa State by the commentators.

Some developments in player rotations tonight which could affect our guys' PT going forward....

When Monte and some of Denver's other starters came out of a close game in the 1Q, the T'wolves took a 13-pt lead. Monte had had a strong 1st quarter, with 9 points. The development was that he sat toward the end of the 2Q and dynamic rookie Bones Hyland got his first competitive minutes of the game and responded well. He was rewarded with 18 MIN and may become another guard in the rotation. Monte still got his minutes so it may affect Austin Rivers and Facu Campazzo but I'm going to pay attention. The rook's upside seems to be fairly high.

Monte put together a solid score line: 30 MIN, 16 PT, 7-14 FG, 1-6 3PT, 1-2 FT, 4 REB, 5 AST, 1 STL, 1 TO and +17 in a 2-point win in MInneapolis.

The other development is that the Suns won against Cleveland, played 10 guys in their rotation but Nader got his first DNP, after not playing the 2nd half of the previous game. It seems that Phoenix may be experimenting with player combinations and, at the moment, Abdel is riding the pine.

Matt got his usual DNP in Chicago's win over the tough Jazz.

Georges had a cold shooting game but continues to be a big contributor for the 76ers, who blew out Atlanta at home to move to 4-1. Georges' line: 18 MIN, 5 PT, 2-7 FG, 1-6 3PT, 3 REB and 2 AST.

Georges, pickin' cherries and dunking basketballs:

"Blew out Atlanta" will happen more this year because they're not rewarding Young with 15 free throws a game for bouncing off of people.

The Kings lost a close one to Dallas on Sunday to fall to 3-3. Tyrese was a little cold with his shooting but contributes in so many ways. His line: 35 MIN, 15 PT, 5-14 FG, 1-4 3PT, 3-3 FT, 6 REB, 4 AST, 2 BLK and 1 TO.

LIke his predecessor Monte Morris, Tyrese is money with the floater:

The end of this defensive sequence is Haliburton shutting down a drive and blocking a shot. This kid is so effective on D.

So far, Hali is averaging 11.8 PPG and 5.7 AST.

That second unit definitely needs a scorer. It feels like Rivers is going to see his time decline. I think the shine is starting to come off of Facu too.

I'm watching Georges tonight; he's getting more PT because Embiid is sitting. He's not hitting his shots at a great clip but he's beaten guys off the dribble and creating, with two pretty assists, including this one:

So nice to see him creating like ISU days.

His one made 3 in the first half:

Oh, man, what a game and what a performance by Georges. The Sixers rested Embiid and Tobias Harris was dinged up. Danny Green got hurt in the game so there were lots of minutes for Georges. He played very well early on but started out with 1-6 shooting. After that, he was lights out though. A late FG by Curry was the only reason Georges wasn't the leading scorer for Philly (a 10-pt win over Portland).

The Niang line: 31 MIN, 21 PT, 7-16 FG, 3-9 3PT, 4-5 FT, 5 REB, 5 AST, 1 BLK and 1 TO.

That's Georges' 4th 20+ game of his career.
