Matt again got some PT for the Bulls last night, who blew out a depleted Hawks team (although they still had Trae Young). He had been (last 2 games) playing about a 12-minute 1st half shift but only got 6 this time; because it was a blow-out, he got some mop-up minutes. He ended with 5 PT in 16 MIN on 2-3 shooting (1-1 from 3) with 1 AST. The Bulls are still without Ball and Caruso.

Talen did not start for the 2nd straight game and had an icy shooting performance again, with 4 PT on 2-7 / 0-2 shooting in 19 MIN. He did grab 5 boards. His 3PT % has fallen to 22% for the season. The Lakers lost to Memphis by 5.

The Kings picked up a 1-pt win over Dallas. Tyrese's shooting cooled off a bit but he still had a double-double. He had 12 PT (4-13 / 1-5 shooting) with 10 assists in 36 minutes.

Still no Nader appearance in uniform; the Suns picked up an easy W in his absence.

If you have NBA TV, there's a chance to see both Georges and Monte (assuming his wheel is better) tonight. Philly at 6:00 CT and Denver at 8:30 CT.

The NBA has postponed the Denver - Golden State game tonight because Denver may not have 8 available players due to COVID and injuries. Monte was still being called "questionable" today due to a sore knee.

Georges had 9 PT in 19 MIN (3-9 / 3-6 shooting) with 4 REB in 19 MIN last night, as Philly beat Brooklyn. His 3s were all in the 2nd half and were timely in what was a close game.

Georges had a team-high +15.

You're preaching to the choir, buddy.

Matt has 8 in the 1st half for the Bulls!!

Yeah, why would they want one of the best shooters in the world, Jason?

There were 3 Cyclones in action in the NBA on NYE:

Matt hit his 8 points in the 1st half as the Bulls won their 6th straight. Matt has played (many) more minutes in the last 5 games than he did in the rest of the season. He shot 3-7 / 2-5 from the field in 20 minutes and is over 40% from 3PT for the year. See above for his clips.

Tyrese had a big first half and cooled off in the 2nd - as did the entire team- but got yet another double-double. The Kings faded and lost to the Mavs. Hali ended with 17 PT on 6-10 / 4-5 shooting with 10 assists.

THT came off the bench for the 3rd straight game and the Lakers got a blow-out W over Portland, powered by a certain L. James. THT had better stats because of drawing fouls. He played 22 MIN and had 10 PT on 2-4 / 0-0 shooting but 6-6 on FT (and 3 AST).

The Nuggets play the Rockets today and Houston sources place Monte in health and safety protocols (instead of out with a sore knee). Not yet sure if they have that right; it WOULD give him a chance to get his knee right, I suppose.

D. DeRozan made his 2nd (in 2 games) GW 3-pointer to bail out the Bulls for their 7th-straight win, this time over the Wizards. Chicago trailed for much of the game.

It was a rough shooting night for Matt Thomas, who played 12 minutes and missed all 4 shots (all 4 were 3PT attempts).

Denver beat the Rockets but Monte seems to be in COVID protocols.

Tyrese just missed his usual double-double, with 9 PT and 12 AST but the Kings got a good home win vs. Miami.

THT continues to come off the bench in a 7th man role for the Lakers, who got a 5-pt win over Minnesota. Talen is still struggling with his efficiency. He finished 2-7 / 0-2 shooting in 23 MIN for 6 PT.

STILL no Nader for Phoenix. That must've been a more serious knee injury than originally thought.

Lonzo Ball has cleared protocols for the Bulls so we'll see if Matt continues to get minutes this week.

Georges had 8 PT on 3-6 / 2-5 shooting tonight, with 4 REB in 18 MIN. The 76ers won soundly over the Rockets. Georges had a shorter 2nd-half shift than usual but got a few minutes of garbage time toward the end. I hope the 14-15 minute range is not what Doc ends up giving him when the Sixers have all their players.

You can't leave Niang open for a second.

Speaking of range and minutes, as I expected, Matt Thomas got a DNP for Chicago last night with Lonzo Ball out of protocol. He provided some value as insurance / depth but is going to be hard-pressed to see any real action now and that's without Caruso even being back. The Bulls won their 8th straight.

Monte missed Denver's game due to health protocols and the Nuggets lost by 14 to the Mavs, which may or may not be a coincidence. They certainly miss Barton, Porter and Murray.

I read that they've played more players this year than any other in the history of the NBA, with all the hardship, 10-day contracts. If you're in the G League and didn't get a contract - Lindell? - the NBA is probably not looking at you.
