Certain students, including myself, have been invited to a meeting on Thursday to talk about Cyclone Alley. The idea of the meeting is to share ideas on how to make Cyclone Alley better. I know that this has been a common discussion on this site, so I decided I'd ask all of you how to make Cyclone Alley better?

All ideas are much appreciated.

no more synchronized chants. Let students be students.

The wave during opposing free throws are lame. Look up Utah St. for examples of clever ways to distract during free throws.

The waving seemed to be pretty effective last night. We may not want to get rid of it quite yet.

RULE 1: If a coach has the balls to call a time out you must get even louder so that he can't communicate with players (yes, even for extended tv time outs)
RULE 2: if you still have a voice when you leave Hilton - you have failed your job as a bat *** crazy student
RULE 3: PUT THE ******* CELL PHONE AWAY
RULE 4: yelling loud is way better that chants during free throws (yeah, I know this needs to go to the band)
RULE 5: PUT THE ******* CELL PHONE AWAY
RULE 6: unless your legs are broken you need to be jumping while yelling - adds the the effect when the camera shows the student section
RULE 7: PUT THE ******* CELL PHONE AWAY
RULE 8: encourage everyone around you to stand and cheer - make it the norm not just for the big moments.
RULE 9: the goes for everyone in the upper levels as well
and RULE 10: PUT THE ******* CELL PHONE AWAY

There was a moment on the cam when there were 3 guys and 2 were cheering. The one in the middle was standing with his arms crossed looking ****** off. Get your friends involved in the game, even if they don't care about the outcome.

Either that or give the tickets based on how they act. That would be tough to judge, but it's something.

Agreed with PUT THE CELL PHONE AWAY. Also, both ends should be going insanely crazy when shooting free throws. Not just the side it's being shot on. Not near as loud as it should be.

These.
If students arent going crazy and yelling and screaming, they dont deserve to be that close. Let the fans who want to be there and have fun be close.

EFFING HILARIOUS. I laughed so hard last night. We were just saying how dumb he was for not taking the middle first...then he did that. I need to spread rep around...I tried lol

The best part was watching him rush so hard to get back to the mat before the other guy (making eye contact) only to screw it up!

-Bring up the idea of them using whatever money (that they can use freely) to make signs FOR the student section. By signs I mean random big heads, generic saying, bricks, spinny things to distract shooters, whatever. Then they can distribute them randomly throughout the student section. The kids that do make and bring signs are usually buddies with the other kids that are willing to do it. So what signs are there you usually see all in one part of the student section.

-Have poster/costume contests more regularly (and tell us about them earlier than a few hours before gametime..) A contest might seem "lame" to some, but if it encourages kids to bring random signs and dress crazy then you're promoting chaos at least a little bit.

-Keep the waving the arm thing for free throws, it would distract me if I was shooting. BUT have the arms wave AS he shoots it, not after.

-This one would probably be far too much effort for them to ever consider, and from a student-organization standpoint might be too inappropriate to ever happen.. but they could do research on opposing teams players and coaches. If any of those players would happen to have an interesting past (anything that students could ride on them about) throw it on that Cyclone Alley report thing they put on all the seats before games. Imagine every student knowing something about a player and being able to get under his skin with it. (Again, probably too inappropriate for them to even consider.. I just think it would be cool)

-SPEEDO MAN BEHIND THE HOOP TO DISTRACT THE FT SHOOTER. Ala the fat guy from Utah State.

-The biggest point to make is that chaos should be promoted, not feared. There are so many kids that go to these games just to go, and feel far too self-conscious to really go crazy in the student section. Promote craziness, if some kid shows up in a freaking speedo, and jumps around and screams the whole game, he should be rewarded with guaranteed front row seats to the next game. Who doesn't want front row seats? That would definitely encourage kids to just let loose and have fun out there.

So far nothing has been suggested that is actually doable/enforceable (except CynadoAlley). The more I think about it the less I blame CA. If all the fans in Hilton wanted the place to be rockin' they could easily do it themselves. I really think we are using CA as a scapegoat.

Yeah, the shots of Cyclone Alley showing people on their phones is annoying. You're not at a high school game, you're at one of the finest home courts in ALL of college basketball. If you can't appreciate that, then you don't belong anywhere near the court. It may seem overboard to even suggest that at the meeting, but it truly seems to be an issue. You shouldn't be mentally checked out while sitting in the student section of an ISU basketball game. It's asinine that this should even be an issue.
