My work network is blocked at HN. What is Jon's awesome reasoning why the Iowa/Iowa State game should be dropped?
 
If anything, the advent of the playoff should have Iowa WANTING more games against BCS conference teams. If they just want to stack up home games against weak *** competition that is complete BS.
 
I wouldn't really care either way. It's fun to debate with fellow Iowan's about, but it's far from something that I would miss.

His reasoning is pretty simple and straight forward.

1. He wants to play 10 B1G games
2. He wants the two nonconference games to be Iowa home games
3. Iowa State won't play Iowa if it isn't a home and home, so the series would have to end, and he's okay with that.

The argument makes sense, but afterwards he got all trolly.

Not a big fan of Miller, so will choose not to read that crap, but wondered if he mentioned whether he thinks the SEC and ACC staying at a 8 conference game schedule will make it less likely the B10 goes to 10? I just can't see the B10 doing that after watching other conferences shy away from going to 9.

Personally, I think the game is too important to both school's fan-bases and ADs that the game will continue for the foreseeable future. The biggest sports week in the state is unquestionably Iowa/Iowa State week.
 
Not going to read this thread but if some hawk fan says that we should end the series for the betterment of both programs....let me agree. End the game. Does not do either program any good at this point. We can sell out games against anybody now with our fanbase, we don't need Iowa any longer and they don't need us.

Thanks for the low down.

10 conference games sounds effing stupid. They have enough patsies in the conference currently where an undefeated tOSU or Michigan would get knocked for not playing more tough non-con opponents. Hell this season Iowa plays a conference "Muderers Row" of:
Purdue
Indiana
Maryland
Northwestern
Minnesota
Illinois
Wisconsin
Nebraska

Add Rutgers and Penn State for your 10 conference games. Then add two terrible non-con teams who will agree to come in for home games only.

You have the worst 12 game strength of schedule possible.

There's the initial article if you don't want to read the Miller commentary. It kind of came about after SEC and ACC schools started talking about scheduling each other in the non-conference.

Miller's article about it is kind of stupid because he's just arguing for it from the position that he doesn't want to play ISU in the first place.

Whats even better is Nebby and Wisconsin have to come to Kinnick (admittedly that hasn't been such a daunting task recently as it once was). But gosh dang, Barta and Ferentz must have done some kind of favors to someone to get this schedule.
