Cy-Hawk fear...

Unfortunately, there's a large, and growing number of 'Clone fans who want to drop the series too. I feel that would be a huge mistake and I don't believe either school's respective AD's would want that outcome because the series is so beneficial to both programs.
Take it from a guy who attended the 1977 game - when the series renewed after a 34-year hiatus, it would be a mistake to go back to that era.

I'd love to go back to that era and most Cyclone fans probably would as well. We were GOOD in the late 60's and 70's and Iowa was horrible. Our best team came from that era. I'd give up playing Iowa each and every year if we could return to that kind of product on the field.

If we lost playing Iowa, maybe we can soften our schedule by playing a FCS opponent... Oh wait :twitcy:

Outside of 2005, in the last 12 years please point to a game vs ISU where Iowa had "their ***** handed to them". You're biggest margin of victory outside of 2005 was a whopping 5pt win. Conversely, during that same time, Iowa pasted ISU numerous times by 30+ points which would've 50+ under any other coach not named Kirk Ferentz.

I didn't read this whole thread so tell me, did anyone ever point out to this blowhard that there was only one 30+ point blowout during the 12 year time frame he set up? I'm not sure how one equates to numerous.

There you go again, getting all facty & truthy and everything...

Maybe he's referring to the sheer dominance of not allowing our team to even score a TD in 3 straight games from 2007-09.

2007 - 15 points, all FG
2008 - 1 FG and 1 safety
2009 - 1 FG

And as much as you'd like to admit we were in the game, seeing as the score was less than 30 - we never had a shot in hell in 2003 or 2010 losing by 19 and 28 respectfully. So that's actually 5 games which they completely dominated the game in the last 12 years.

Numerous 30+ point victories was not even close to correct.

Also, I don't take getting beaten by a team (2007) as sheer dominance. I'm pretty sure part of dominating a team is actually scoring more points than they do. Sure that offense was crappy, but including a game that a team lost in their string of domination is beyond stupid.

It could also be noted that Iowa only scored one touchdown + PAT in that game. Their other points came from field goals, just like ours.

I think it says more about the relative strength of the defenses that year. Neither offense was able to "dominate".

I assume it's just TavernHok logic. They are used to telling the cops when they get pulled over that they only had one beer, when in reality, they've had numerous beers. I'm sure it's just something they ar used to, one=numerous.

I'll hear 1 of 2 things when I come back to work on Monday:

Iowa Wins - "HOOOOOCKS WIN!"
ISU Wins - "HOOOOOCKS LET YOU WIN!"

This is why I wouldn't miss the rivalry. I hate this week.

One nice thing about spending my days on campus...VERY few mouthy Hawkeyes here. Sure...there are people on campus wearing black & gold, but they don't talk a lot of smack (at least not where I'm at).

When they had their NINETEEN YEARS OF NON WINNING SEASONS, something most younger Iowa fans have no idea about, they didn't play ISU for 16 of those. Iowa wasn't just not having winning seasons, some of those teams were just darn right TERRIBLE. Most of those years, ISU would have won.

Oh, the good old days with Bob Cummings and bottom dwelling Hawks..........
