Anyone blow out their arm yet?

Nope...Kerry Wood is already having back problems for the Indians...he should be fine, but it's just a shame what has happened to him throughout his career...

I pointed out to a friend today that the Cubs won their Spring opener...his reply, "last year the Lions won all their preseason games".

Touche...

Anyway, GO CUBS

I really hope Hoff can be a factor this year.

Me too...all this guy has done is hit, hit, and hit some more for the last two years whether it's been in Iowa, spring training, or in Chicago.

It's just a really tough situation for him...he's not a natural outfielder at all, and they already have one defensive liability in the outfield with Soriano....plus Lee is an everyday guy at first base.

Let's trade Lee for another pitcher, while we can get something for him.

This is the year, this has to be the year! :jimlad: I'm not a Cubs fan, but I am an Iowa State fan so I know what it's like, and I'm not making fun... well not too much fun.

Don't get me wrong, I like Lee (even though he appears to be on the downslope)...he's still a durable gold glove first baseman that will hit .280+ and strike out a lot less than most first baseman, but his power and production are diminishing big-time...it'd be nice if they could let Hoffpauir get some at bats somehow...

Do some people really get excited when their team wins a spring training game?

It was tough to contribute when you're not on the playoff roster. Good thing we had Daryl Ward instead. :skeptical:

No kidding...over the last couple years the Cubs have continuously proven they'll go with the veteran in key spots regardless of their numbers...(Marquis over Marshall, continuing to throw Howry in key situations despite Howry continually blowing games and having an awful season...he also made the playoff roster over guys like Wuertz despite having just AWFUL numbers...Trachsel over Marshall at the end of '07 when Marshall had been pretty solid all season long for the Cubs, but they felt the need to acquire Trachsel who had an era over six...needless to say Trachsel got lit up for three straight starts and that was it for him...and Ward over Hoffpauir, despite Ward struggling all season long, and Hoffpauir hitting the crap out of the ball wherever he was at).
