Duh!
JP required every sport to cut their budget by 10% this year ( I wonder if the gazette factored that in?)
Not to mention, cancelled Wrestling facility and Hilton renovations. sometimes those moneys are committed to a future project that may be underway. It makes it a unique situation that they just can’t cut costs and drum up $21MM. Most if the money is already committed for next year or a period of years.

Edited: corrected for accuracy.

This part is not true.

Non profit doesn't mean you can't have a profit. It means the primary mission is not to generate profit for owners/shareholders
Agreed. There may be a better way to explain ADs structure. I guess their tax exempt status is purely based on their “educational“ basis.

And on some level you can justify that with the opportunities they provide to the nonrev sports. Kids getting free college off of football revenue as long as they play a sport that otherwise wouldn't generate the kind of money to pay for it

I feel as the prices go up the number of butts in the seats will go down, which will require even more price increases to make up the difference, and thus begins a vicious cycle. I hope I am wrong.
Well it’s now summer 2025.
Iowa has yet to agree to the extend the home and home football series beyond 2027.
If we lose the Iowa game at JTS every other year, we have bigger problems.

Not exactly sure.
trying to do two things at once and thought was asking nwicy if he was ok. how about you if you live where I think you do
This is my ghost. BC perished and now is hanging out with @GTO after his wife knocked him off by chaining him to the water heater. (Guessing that may be a semi inside joke)

Drove to the farm in the daylight so I could see and also did a nice stretch of Highway 18 in Hancock and cerro gordo county. Ventura and garner got hit the hardest. Some destruction looks like there was rotation involved, so there may have been a twister. Winnebago county didn’t see much from what I could tell.

Now for @NWICY, a better question is if all his ladies survived because any hint of danger and the harem comes over and surrounds him to keep him safe. You’ve never seen rizz like this guy. (Which reminds me that I saw a guy in public with his wife and kids with a shirt that said “No Rizz, Just a big D”, that was interesting that he considered that a family shirt). Ndubs texted me this morning so I know that by mid morning he was still kicking.

I believe I heard some (maybe most) states don’t tax ticket sales. That’s one pretty simple way the state could help of the bat. Doesn’t seem like the state of Iowa wants to do much though. Which is silly when you look at what other states are doing and how much college athletics means here. It also wouldn’t be a meaningful impact to the state budget.

I'm guessing Story, Polk, Johnson, Linn, and Black Hawk counties would take issue with it since they're getting the local option part of that. Story County alone is probably getting $250,000+. Not exactly a number to just skip over.

Does anybody have a serious study by a B-School professor or economist about the marketing value sports (mostly football, let's be honest here) add to the brand value and revenue of a university?

If we get a good number for Iowa State, can't the AD just invoice the university for the amount?

I'm being 3/4ths serious here.
It is that type of conversation that is starting to happen in all aspects of facing these new challenges. Legislatures, Economic Development people, University administrators and athletic departments are discussing this topic.
