Mike Hlas might be the biggest Iowa State basketball promoter in the media in this state. He loves him some Hoiball.
I'm surprised the gazette even runs ISU stories. I don't think the Sioux city journal typically does, at least there were none from Dec 16-23 when I looked at it this winter.

The Urinal...the morning after KU/ISU their sports headline was split equal size stories on UI/tOSU and KU/ISU. That POS is barely good enough for fish-wrap.

Cyclone coverage in Eastern IA is the best it has been in the 25 years I've lived here. Hlas, AM 1600, AND KGAN all give Hoiball props on a regular basis. Now that The Squawks are a "top 25 " team they will still try to talk about them as much as possible. But they can't ignore a top 10 team 2 hours away.
On a side note it has been interesting to watch the Eastern IA media turn on Kirk and Barta. Too bad our FB program blows so bad right now. We are missing a good opportunity to gain some ground over on this side of the state.

Gazette actually has very good articles re: ISU, better on the average than the Register.
I saw this yesterday. I just assumed the writer wrote that because Iowa City doesn't have a college basketball team.:spinny:
