Cyfanatic- notice how on the gazette online sports page they have a link to hawkeyesports.com under the Links, but nothing to cyclones.com... I emailed them about that and I got the usual answer... "uh, I'll notify the webmaster blah blah blah"....

Oh yeah. I also notice the words they use to describe ISU athletics or athletes or in this case signees. Maybe I read too much into things but that paper has to be the most biased (yes, even moreso than the Rag) Hawkeye publication ever!

It is based in Cedar Rapids... and is Iowa City's paper...

If Ames had a paper, would you expect them to plug Hawkeye sports very often? I know I wouldn't. People over there, for the most part, that read that paper aren't interested in ISU sports.

The one thing I would have changed about this recruiting class is signing pomlee rather than mann. I think pomlee is a better athlete with a more natural position as a post player.

If it were an organization that reports "news" I would suggest it wouldn't be biased at all! It would report the facts! And NOT be subjective...guess I am too hopeful!

I also just think he is a better athete and would develope better as a basketball player. I have nothing against mann. I just think pomlee is better. Though grades or something else seem to be an issue why nobody is really offering him

Doesn't Iowa City have the Press Citizen? Or is that the student paper?

They do - but the Press-Citizen, and the CR Gazette are kind of like the DMR and their branch papers. They do a lot of work together, and tie in a lot of their stories.

The student newspaper - the Daily Iowan, is garbage.

What? You don't think the first paragraph is unbiased?

"The men's basketball recruiting class Iowa State is making official today won't be ranked among the best in the Big 12 Conference."

The Rag has branch papers?

Regardless. So what's being said here is the CR Gazette is Iowa City's paper, much in the same away the Register is Ames' paper?

I don't think that works in your favor....

BTW, there used to be the Ames Tribune. (??)

I really hope Hamilton redshirts and puts on alot of weight. Definetely not ready for the big 12 yet. Im excited about buckley and eikemer. Both seem like solid guards and I believe that buckley will be starting next year

I grew up in CR. The Gazette is homer ville. RARELY will you see the words lose and Iowa in the same article or headline. Meaning, that Iowa doesn't lose, they just didn't win.

I could go on and on and on.... but to sum it up, they have CRAPPY coverage of anything related to ISU that is positive or actual sport related coverage.

To say anything else would not be a true statement.

Believe you me, I am posting this as gentle as I can put it.

- keep.

I grew up in Dubuque. Know what that's like.

Lucky to find anything in ISU the TH. Buried behind iowa and Wisconsin, even the HS games.

The Gazette is very biased and generally very non-congratulatory to ISU, but it's just catering to its reader base. Iowa fans don't like reading positive articles about ISU.

The Omaha World Herald has good Big 12 North coverage, which includes ISU. Other than that, probably not.
