GMac has been criticized by some as a failed recruiter, especially after losing several big men to Wisconsin. I see Wisconsin has stopped recruiting Royce White so please consider this: Ryan and GMac both are seeking the same type of player, that is, good citizens, hard workers, academically qualified, whatever. Right now Bo has a lot more to offer in terms of winning pct. conference standings, NCAA tournament .... GMac & Co. have to climb back into the upper half of the conference and get into the post season before the hordes of 4 and 5 star athletes begin beating a path to ISU. The same situation is facing Chizik.

I agree. The only question is, can he climb back into the upper half of the conference and compete for the NCAA's? That remains to be seen.

This is where the half empty/half full glass enters the picture. I prefer to look on the bright side.

The one thing we all need to remember is that would be true with any coach that we hire. Unfortunatly ISU is not in a position to hire proven coachs. We must look for the up and coming coach and then wait to see if he was the right hire. I know we had Johnny but that should not be concidered normal. The BB world was shocked that he came here, it is not something we even dreamed about. We just need to wait and see. The key is that with anyone would still have to wait and see. There are no miracle fixes for the mess we were in.

We just need players. I hope Jimmy and Jamie see that they would be stepping into a great situation. We are losing two seniors - a 6'6" forward and a 6'10" center. Rahshon and Jiri were probably our best players in 2007 because they were so consistent, but they weren't our most talented players. Anyone who watched our team last year knows that our most talented players were two freshmen - Diante and Craig. They just need another year or so to develop. Add Jimmy and Jamie to our team next year (along with Lucca and Dominique) and I think we have a very good shot at a top 4 finish in the Big 12.

Don't forget Wesley Johnson, Bryan Peterson, Sean Haluska, and Alex Thompson.....with Jamie and Jimmy we would have a very solid 10 man rotation without even mentioning Wes Eikmeier, Clinton Mann, and Justin Hamilton......Hopefully this roster and the roster for the 2009-2010 team will give us a very decent shot at top half finishes and postseason appearances.

I definitely should have mentioned Wesley Johnson, but I see the other guys you listed as being role players. Each game we will need one of those guys to step up to help us win the game. I just don't think we'll be in position to win the game without have more talented guys on the floor (hopefully guys like Butler and Vanderbeken).

Unfortunately it looks like we are going to have to wait some time to hear Jamie and Jimmy's decisions. Not sure if that is a good or bad thing.

Hopefully Jamie and Jimmy want to play together at the next level....them making their visit together leads me to believe that they would enjoy that and have made a commitment to it...or it was just convenient for them to visit on the same weekend. If they want to play together it appears that ISU is the only place that is offering them that opportunity. Both of these players would be huge gets for us in terms of recruiting...with Jamie considering UCONN and Ole Miss, and Jimmy considering Miss State. It would help to show future recruits that Iowa State is an option, not just any option, but an attractive, "I want to play there" option.

Hopefully they don't drag it out until summer and then chose somewhere else. The coaches need to set a deadline so they could entertain at least one more post player.

May 25th is the last day of the spring signing period, and April 16th is the first. Hopefully they will have decided by then.

I don't think he is considering them any longer. From what I understand, it's us, TCU, and George Washington, and maybe a couple of other.

Who is considering us, GW, and TCU???? I am assuming Jimmy. Thats great if true...now hopefully he can bring Jamie with him to Iowa State. I believe the last time we battled UCONN for a recruit was in Morgan's tenure when Jeff Adrien chose the Huskies. Hopefully we can play .500 ball in the recruiting game.

Bo Ryan can recruit just on his coaching legacy and his name he has been to the NCAA tourney every year as Wisconsins coach. GMAC is just a new comer to the Big Time give him some time

i want what you are drinkin, although i think the mens bball team will improve im not gnna expect a top 4 finish, that is a little over the top. i'll hope for 6th bubble team, pry land in the NIT. In my opinion that is the BEST case.

The real question is who are the starters next year? We can't have this thread go go page 3 without about 10 starting lineup posts.
