Rarely but it will happen a few times where he is out there without Mason or Graham, depending on match ups. KU could roll our 6'5" Selden, 6'7 Mykailiuk/Greene, 6'7" Oubre, 6'8" Alexander/Ellis and 6'10" Mickelson and be a pretty big load for any team to deal with for a few minutes.

Why would Mason or Graham not be out there? Was there ever a time Selden played PG last year? Unless Graham is real good PG is going to be a weakness again for KU...IMO Mason isn't very good

I don't know. Watching last year's KU team, I always felt that Frankamp was better than Mason. Mason seems to lack confidence. At least Frankamp did not seem to turn the ball over as much as Tharpe and Mason.

Hahahaha no.
Why not? You expect this year's ISU team to be better than last year despite losing Kane and Ejim, don't you? It's not like Embiid blocked a ton of shots or Tharpe/Frankamp were sharpshooters. Embiid only blocked 72 shots on the entire season. That's just three more than Mickelson had his freshman year and Mickelson is a LOT better now than he was three years ago. KU should easily get more blocked shots from the combo of Alexander/Mickelson than they did from Embiid/Black.

Mason played 2.5 times as many minutes as Frankamp and Frankamp played more SG than PG so he didn't really run the offense much so I wouldn't expect their turnover numbers to be comparable. Losing Frankamp as a 3pt threat won't be a big loss 'cause he didn't shoot it very well during games. Maybe that would improve over time and reps but the guys that will be replacing him should be able to easily match his productivity.

We'll see. Selden could be anything from a PG to a PF for small stretches of time depending on who they play. Like ISU, KU will have a lot of lineup mix and matches available depending on how they feel about their match up with the opposition. Should be interesting to see how it shakes out. First exhibition game tonight.

Not disagreeing with you, just don't remember seeing Selden play PG last year so if he didn't last year I wouldn't expect it this year. I obviously don't follow KU as close as you do but I'm not high on Mason or that Mickelson kid this year but probably won't matter since KU is loaded with talent again. I'm more interested in seeing what the foreign kid does than anyone else

You wouldn't expect the PG rotation to change a bit despite Tharpe and Frankamp no longer being on the team?

I don't see why you would need to play more than two PG's, especially if one of them is any good. Frankamp didn't play much last year and I don't know how many of his minutes played were considered at the point

If Mickelson can stay out of foul trouble he'll be a better first big off the bench than Black was last year. Black might have set a fouls/minute record last year. That dude was a foul magnet. Still think he should have taken Aaron Rodgers up on the offer after the season ended and gone to camp with the Packers to be their next tight end.

Like I said, it will only be a few minutes here and there every now and then. There won't be much need for a roster that tall except for maybe the Kentucky or Texas games.

I've predicted we will beat everyone, why not.

Had you predicted that last year you would have been damn close to being correct. There was only one team on our schedule that we didn't defeat.

Selden needs to improve a lot from last year and by all accounts he has. But he won't be a great three point shooter. The best shooters they have will be Greene and Svi but who knows how many minutes they will get. And their shot blocking won't be better than last year at least not in my opinion. They could prove me wrong and I hope they do but there are a lot of question marks about this team. They will get destroyed when they play Kentucky.

The starting lineup for their exhibition is
Graham
Mason
Selden
Ellis
Traylor

That starting backcourt is not scaring anybody.

Quintrell Thomas started an exhibition game for them in 2008. Why are people so wacko about who starts exhibition games? Self's likely making the point to the freshmen that they have to work their way into the rotation. Selden played all of last year on a bum knee which he got cleaned up in the offseason and will be vastly improved. KU will be a work in progress through non-con as Graham, Alexander, Oubre and Mykhailiuk work to figure out how to play at the college level but they will be a beast come Big 12 season.

Right now I would take Texas and ISU over Kansas and if OU has Thomas I would take them as well.

Until someone beats KU I will always take them to win the Big 12

This. It's alright to be confident in our squad this year, but for the above posters saying they'd pick Kansas 3rd or even 4th this season are insane.
