I polled more than 50 NBA guys on who they would hire if they went the college coach route. Here's the Top 5: College coaches with NBA potential - College Basketball - ESPN

1. Bill Self - Kansas
2. Mike Krzyzewski - Duke
3. Fred Hoiberg - Iowa State
4. Billy Donovan - Florida
5. Tom Izzo - Michigan State

3. Fred Hoiberg, Iowa State

"The Mayor" is respected by NBA folks for a variety of reasons. He played for a decade in the league and also held a front office spot with the Minnesota Timberwolves. He’s familiar with the NBA game and has done a terrific job making the Cyclones relevant in his brief time a the helm.

“He’s intelligent, a terrific communicator, he understands the business, puts his ego in check, and will put in the required work," a source said. "He also has integrity.â€￾

Hooray, more ammo for negative recruiting against us. It's been working too and a major reason for the 2014 strikeouts. Also, the main reason we are all-in and have a great chance with RV since he's so intent on being a 1 and done.

And your evidence to back this up?

It can go both ways. Fred can easily combat that negative recruiting by saying, "Would you rather people didn't want your coach. This tells you I'm respected in the NBA and can help get you there. And why would I want to leave ISU? I grew up here and went to school here and want to raise my own children here. I'm the MAYOR for goodness's sake!" I would be surprised if this was having a very big negative effect on our recruiting.

Self cannot win in the NBA. You need to understand what an 82 game schedule is like for the player. He will never leave college.

Ya, what? You're going to need to elaborate on your second sentence.

Interestingly.... CFH still would make a roster if he chose too. Is this what the article is about?

So Fred's gone, should we promote internally or look to bring in a gay from outside the ISU family? Do you gays prefer a "recruiter" or an "X's and hOe's" type of coach? If you're battling a Charizard and don't own any water-type pokemon which type is the best to go head to head with Charizard in the Charmandar Volcano Battle Arena?

Did you guys know that Fred didn't have head coaching experience before coming to coach at ISU?

Also, did you know he grew up blocks from Hilton and was the teams ball boy?
