Too bad. Very good guy, probably should have spent his career at that level.
High school? Unless he takes over a team with a great roster he clearly isn't a good coach. I never could figure out what he was trying to do as a coach. His teams were so inconsistent. Absolutely zero identity. He's a career assistant. If you can't win at Murray in that league it's time to move on. They are THE PROGRAM in that league.

They WERE the program in the OVC.

Big time step up to the MVC and he walked into an absolutely bare cupboard in the same year they made the jump. I don't think any coach would've been successful but he took the lumps for them and got them to a point where they can build.

I would imagine his future is TV/media of some sort. Can't imagine he wants to be an assistant m

You don't know Schat about basketball. They never dominated the MVC.

Nice guy. He has made millions of dollars doing what he loves. He's made enough to ride off into the sunset and live a comfortable life and give his kids a hell of a lift too. Nothing to be ashamed about. Too bad we were dumb enough to hire him.

I wonder if Jamie kicks himself for not hiring TJ at that time instead of Prohm. I feel like TJ was always Pollards guy, but something with Leath?

I think it worked out well for everyone. I don’t know if TJ would be this successful at ISU if he got the job instead of Prohm. Prohm made lots of money, and I think everyone agrees Prohm is a high character person.

He was coming in hot with some good overall seasons at Murray St.

I was a pretty staunch backer in his first 2-3 years despite some weirdness since ISU was still generally successful and had some historic wins.

He got handed talented rosters but they still had their limitations vs. truly elite teams and he had to sift through situations like a player being used to reportedly having to be babysat in order to function*.

Really after watching the dysfunction on display in 18-19 it was clear some things weren't very good and then it just tanked after that.

*although I'm not totally sure he was all that good at establishing direct expectations himself.

He owes Isiah Canaan and Cam Payne a huge thank you.

I mean sure, but if there was one thing he could do, it was identify and recruit PGs. He obviously had Canaan coming in, but he also recruited and had commitments from Payne, Wigginton, Halliburton, and Hunter.

He also had a few other high level recruits and transfers. Not a great P5 coach as far as, but he certainly could identify and bring a lot of talent in.

Your basketball takes are about as bad as your Mahomes and Chiefs takes.

They haven't been in the OVC for 4 years now. Drake dominates their conference in the present day.
