Clothes Washer/dryer recommendations

This last summer my wife and I bought a GE front load washer (also the matching dryer). Yes, the loads take longer, but we're also getting out old stains that we never thought we'd ever get out. We went with front load because whichever previous owner installed the cabinets in the laundry room installed them way too low and you couldn't open a top load washer lid all the way. You could open it enough to load and unload, but after 2 years of that I was done with that nonsense. It's not fun continuously having a washer door close on top of you while you're bent over inside the machine trying to unload it.
