Is anyone else a little embarassed that these "Choose your Adventure at Iowa State" commercials is what we're airing over the midwest? I live in Chicago and surprisingly these commercials are show here. It pisses me off that these dumb commercials are probably the only thing that some people know about ISU. The whispering professors at the end are pretty annoying but the one thing that really annoys me is with the white kid that doesn't know what a quesadilla is yet he got into ISU. I know they're generally trying to be quirky and funny but the entire thing comes across as incredibly lame.

Anyone else have an opinion on these commercials?

The whispering at the end is freaking stupid. I guess it sticks with you, "Yeah, Iowa State had the crappy commercial with the whispering!" but I'm not sure that's a good thing....

Definitely time to move on to a new, refreshing ad campaign.

One of the professors that whispers at the end of one of the commercials is in my department.

I am also surprised to see them over in the Chicago area. I had some people that I met over here make fun of them, but I guess at least they now know something about ISU. But yes, its time for a new refreshing Iowa State commercial.

I think the whispering is supposed to be so that the professors don't interupt that particularly student "choosing his adventure" but it comes across as so dumb. I suppose it's pretty indicative of ISU though. You should get used to straining and listening very carefully if you want to understand a majority of your professors.

In the first commercial in this campaign, the prof is in the library at the end of the commercial, so he whispers. It was pretty clever. But now, for some reason, they whisper at the end of each commercial. Even though the situation does not call for whispering....

I will give ISU this much, at least it is original. Every other school has the exact same commercial in which it is only aired during breaks from their school playing a sport.

Heres a new slogan... "Be Proud... Be a Cyclone"

Make sure to show Paul Rhoads' Nebraska locker room video alongside, along with other professors imitating how proud they are to be in whatever field they are in.

"I'm sooo proud, listen to me, I'm sooo proud to be an Iowa State Chemical Engineer!!"

The guy asking what a quesadilla is ticks me off every time. I'm sure it almost comical by now watching me flip out at the tv over it.

Yeah, I love the commercials, but what is with the quesadilla? Who freaking doesn't know what is in a quesadilla? Why not ask about something complex?

Exactly! Surely there was a more interesting pie graph shaped item he could have asked about.

I think they could be a lot worse. Just think of all the Big Ten schools' commercials.

The whispering and the quesadilla thing ticke me off every single time. I saw one of the teachers on campus one day though and got completely stoked. :biglaugh:
