Chris Simms with a total douche take.

If he said the top four of SEC would/could win Big 12 he might be right, it's at least a somewhat likely thing. It's just as true of every other conference though. Penn State isn't ranked in the top ten if they played in SEC, they'd be on edge of rankings at best.

"Middle" is teams like Kentucky, Florida, Arkansas and Auburn and I really don't think any of them were better than TCU, KSU and Texas.

I am not sure the SEC isn't Georgia and everyone else this year.

Texas played Alabama close. Not like LSU beat Florida State. The Vols beat Pitt in OT. KSU whipped Mizzou the week before losing to Tulane.

IMO the SEC is the top conference, but they don't walk on water.

So our 6-6 Sooners play the 9-3 Seminoles. Our 7-5 Red Raiders play the 8-4 Rebels. Our 8-4 Longhorns play the 10-2 Huskies. So, if these are supposed to be evenly matched teams, then how can the Big 12 suck? These matchups indicate the exact opposite! Going 6-6 in the Big 12 equates with going 9-3 in the ACC, which sounds accurate for those who actually watched.

Been this way for years.

And it doesn’t help that we got 2 teams in NY6 bowls. That bumps everyone up a slot.

They aren’t going for evenly matched teams. It’s where you finished in the conference and potential ratings. Big12 only has 10 teams, one is in the playoffs so it’s out of contention. The ACC and PAC have no teams in the playoffs so you are going to face teams with higher win totals from larger conferences.

Because the B1G’s defenses are so much better / faster / stronger than the Big XII? Or because the Big XII doesn’t play defense? Which tired, lazy narrative do we want to use next?
Isn't it nauseating!!!! In 4 quarters, SEC title game had 80 points, EIGHTY POINTS!!! B1G had 55 points and Big 12 had 56 points. Look at KSU stop TCU twice from the one yard line. Iowa State had one of the best defenses in the country. But yet over and over and over the talking heads and anyone trying to prop up their own conference repeats the lie about Big 12 defense. Two top teams in the B1G when they played November 26, there were 68 points scored. Tough defense??? What a joke! What a LIE!

Part of this narrative is because the big 12 sends almost no defensive players to the NFL. It gets even worse if you don’t count OUT. Last year the Big12 didn’t even have a first round pick on either side of the ball. I agree on the Big12 playing defense, especially ISU having a great one, but they just aren’t sending elite defensive players to the NFL. So when the media is highlighting guys to play at the next level it’s almost always offensive players so it gives the perception of not having great defenses.

I guess if they are being judged by their performance while playing in college, a better metric than their future NFL careers, would be their performance against other college teams. The Big 12 fares pretty well usually in non-conference, including bowl games.

We get almost none drafted would be a better way to say it. Seems most of our guys make the team as free agents. I think a good portion of that is the false narrative that the big 12 doesn’t play defense.

Yep totally agree it’s an old argument from a different era. If anything the SEC should have that rep as they have so many insane offensive talents that the scores are always high even with the stud defensive talent they have. Big ten just doesn’t really have potent offenses so it just look like we play good defense a lot of the time.
