This surprises me, because I saw a picture of him yesterday on Twitter with his daughter Annie and Mel Brooks - it was VERY recent based on the matching shirts. He looked so energetic!

I read somewhere recently that Reiner and Mel Brooks were still hanging out and that they would watch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy together.

He was also a writer on Sid Caesar's show in the early days of television.

Reiner and Steve Martin had a string of movies together (Reiner directing and Martin staring) in the late 70s/early 80s. None better than The Jerk. He was also nominated for 16 Emmy's and won nine...most for his writing on the fantastic **** Van Dyke Show.
