Yeah I would hate to have a national POY and then have him come back to play his senior season. We can't even get our all big 12 1st team players to come back the next year..

Granted Hansbrough is over-rated, but that's not his fault. He may have limited talent, but he plays hard and smart. Granted he's not the most handsome guy in the world (He looks like this: :wideeyed:) but that's not a reason to hate a guy.

Hes dang good..but he is a cocky sun of a b****

As much as I would love to hate him just because he is good, I can't. He is and has been one of the hardest working players for all four years of his career. Everytime I have seen him do an interview he has always been humble. Yes he does always have that look on his face but I find that more funny than annoying. He has been a great example of a student athlete. He doesn't get in trouble, he will graduate, and he works his *** off. I do not like the comparisons to Tebow. Tebow is a self righteous ***** in my opinion. I think the only thing these two have in common is work ethic. Hansbrough doesn't like to advertise himelf as much. I believe this has something to do with the coaching and nature of each sport. Overall Tyler Hansbrough should be a model to all teams and player in any college sport on how to work and behave as a student athlete. The sad thing is that for every Hansbrough, we get a few Nate Miles or Maurice Claretts.

Hansbrough is the guy everyone loves to hate...unless he's on your team, of course. Then you're loving the kid. Both for his performance on the floor and for the fact that he stays out of trouble and is actually going to leave college with a diploma.

I challenge anyone who disses Hansbrough to make a reasonable argument why you wouldn't trade anyone (outside of Brackins) on our team for him. There isn't a single person who knows anything about college basketball that wouldn't take a kid like this on their team.

As for being "overhyped" or "overrated", how is that his fault? It's not like he has a PR rep. He can't help the fact that ESPN loves him just like they do every other player on UNC or Duke. They're high profile...what's he going to do about it? Also, the fact that he has been so successful for the last 4 years makes a difference. Can you imagine how much attention Blake Griffin would get the next two years if he stuck around?

He is one of those guys who is a great college player but will be an average pro. He is not real big or skilled enough to play either forward spots in the NBA. Can you imagine him trying to guard Lamar Odom or Paul Pierce?

Agree 100%. He's awkward at both positions at the NBA level. Kind of like someone else I hear talked about a lot on this board. :skeptical:

I'm just glad he did not go to Kansas or Missouri. (p.s. look at his recruiting thing the schools he is interested in. It's kinda of like our situation with Harrison Barnes. he is looking at the schools in our state but he will probably go to a better basketball school).

Betcha Mizzou would have signed him with Anderson in charge...
Quinn Snyder had the program in shambles, and it was an easy choice to Hansbrough to leave.

Glad to see a few sane posters still reside on this site.

To knock Tyler Hansbrough is simply assinine. He is precisely what most ISU fans would like CBB to be about. He stays all 4 years and gets a degree while playing at an extremely high level with an unquestioned work ethic...all the while being a pretty modest kid that says he just loves college.

This kid will go down as one of the top college players to ever play the game. You don't amass the numbers he has in the ACC without having some game. Whether his game translates to the pros is another question but I would not bet against him having a solid pro career.

I seem to recall a kid coming out of ISU roughly 25 years that was considered too slow to play the point in the NBA and too limited athletically to play the two spot in the NBA (after all...how many 2s in the NBA cannot dunk?). Most gave him no chance of being able to make it in the league...his name...Jeff Hornacek.

All you naysayers on Hansbrough...never say never.
