If you honestly have to check with this site to see if it's kosher for your manhood to get a small SUV, perhaps you should check if you had manhood in the first place. If you want to buy a small SUV, go buy one - and **** everyone else. You're the one dropping thousands of dollars on a vehicle, you're the one that has to be happy with the purchase, not the rest of us.

I disagree, he should have run everything by a group of strangers.

I need a new SUV but the budget and gas prices mean I don't want to get something large like my last vehicles of a Ford Explorer and GMC Envoy. My question is this - certain cars are clearly girl cars (Honda CR-V) but is a Mazda CX5 acceptable for a man?

The only small SUV that doesn't look like a rounded spaceship to me is the GMC Terrain and even that is pushing up my price limits. It seems like all the other small SUVS have the exact same body shape.

Does anyone have any thoughts for me? If you are a car dealer (GMC Terriain :)!!) I'd love to hear from you.

I need AWD and it needs to be an SUV of some sort.

(BTW - My 2 year old Explorer was 8k and my 6 year old Envoy was 3,500 so I really have had some killer deals which is clouding my judgment).

What does it matter? My god I can't believe people are worried about what cars are manly. But yes, the Mazda CX-5 is perfectly fine for a 'man'.

Is that your yellow Miata in the parking lot? I think you left your lights on.

I rent a lot of cars across the country for my job. The AWD Edge is really a good car for a smaller SUV. I also like the latest Escape, and the KIA Sorento. The Volvo X60 is pretty decent but may be above your $-range. I'd stay away from the GM's at this point. It seems that I've had some sort of problem w/ nearly every small SUV I've rented. Just my $0.02.

I am enjoying this thread. Please carry on.

Also, I am struggling with this discussion internally as I am torn between my lust for an impractical, gas slurping Jeep Wrangler and my practical, logical push for a small SUV. Once you all figure out which way I should go, please let me know.

BTW, latest 4-door F150 or 4-door Silverado beats the small SUV's any day right now in every aspect.

No problem, man. Just buy both. I went with a 2004 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and a new Honda CRV in 2011. Both serve me well for their intended uses. The Wrangler I use for off-roading, mainly out west, the CRV is used for everything else. The CRV gets good gas mileage, can't get stuck and is very comfortable to drive. It has the black leather for me and heated seats for the wife.

If you're looking for a family vehicle with lots of cargo room and a smooth ride don't by a Wrangler. The Nissan Pathfinder is probably a little bigger than what youre looking for but it is a nice vehicle
