We're out there online because we're ranked...and a lot of people read the wonderful recap below from CBSSports.com..

.Some of the highlights in BOLD below from their write-up. Great stuff!!!

It's a wire story. From the Associated Press writer out of Des Moines (who hates Iowa State anyway).

Our players didn't have any fire. But neither did the fans. All of us had bad attitudes about the game.

Late to the party, but the fans should have nothing to do with it. I was there today, and yeah, I was pissed off. That was absolutely pathetic

Think what you want, but it is. What’s more important, education or a coaches wishes?
The importance of education has nothing to do with it. There are plenty of places they can learn turf management that don't require a football field. You really need to back off this because its utterly ridiculous.

You really need to back off this. The Horticulture program is world renowned and provides students with a great hands on experience and education that goes into the real world. If you don’t get that, then there’s nothing to discuss.

You're right. I'm sure the horticulture department is going to call the shots on football facilities. I stand corrected. Thanks for dropping the knowledge on me.

Worst part of that story is that it is on every sports site, ESPN has the same story, they all do, because its a AP wire story, and no one had reporters at the game otherwise, so that is what everyone is going to see.

The good part of it is that almost no one is going to read that story anyway. The only stories 99% of people are reading about tonight and tomorrow are about the conference championships and the playoff hunt

This really isn’t a Campbell decision. It’s a college of Ag and University President decision. Sooooo zero chance ISU doesn’t have grass going forward. It’s too valuable of a teaching tool
I wasn’t going to do it but now you’ve got me tempted to upgrade my CF account so I can give this the “dumb” rating it deserves

Grass is OK for high schools and NFL, but not ISU? Keep in mind, this is the only game we have ever played at home in December. Help me out on this - I was at the Tulsa Liberty bowl. We were dominating, up by 2 scores in the first quarter, then the rain came and ISU completely fell apart. ISU had an indoor practice facility, Tulsa did not. Yesterday, we were outplayed by a 41 point underdog in the rain. Again, I assume Drake doesn't have an indoor practice facility. Does ISU ever practice in the rain or mud or do they stay indoors every time?

I would rather have a happy coach and winning team than a ribbon for how good our field is..

This.

And the people complaining the most about this, and coaching salaries, and every other thing, will be the loudest when about not doing enough to keep him when Campbell leaves.

Jesus, I get that no iowa state fan has ever been there, so they don’t know how to act, but it’s been really cool to play meaningful football in November the last couple years. I would like to continue to do so. The easiest way to do that is to keep the coach responsible for this success, unprecedented in the entire history of this school, happy.

What's the advantage of having grass? In two threads I haven't really heard any, other than bragging rights. Injuries? I know that was the case when turf was new, but is their research that still says that?

I do know the playing surface has gone from subpar to 100% unacceptable in the last 5 weeks. Forget the adv/disadv when it comes to football, that was just dangerous for the players.

2017 study by the Orthopedic Journal of Sports Medicine showed a significant increase in injuries that caused players to miss time using long pile turf fields (FieldTurf) when compared to natural grass fields.

I'd rather my kid play on grass. I know this year's conditions were an anomaly.
