Any details on the amount of people being sober and making good decisions at the game?
I would imagine the amount of sobriety in the stadium helps with incidents and being nice part?

I know after 7 Jack and Cokes, the nicest person becomes a prick....

Everyone was so nice. Like beyond anything I've ever experienced as a visitor. We were by the BYU TV broadcast, a young man sought us out, chatted us up, told us about all the traditions to look for (the team walking thru that crowd, coach taking selfies w/ everyone, Cosmo's stunt, etc.) Then he stopped to watch the Jack Trice piece BYU TV did intently, commenting, "wow, that's a powerful story!" Many BYU fans went out of their way to welcome us. Zero trash talk, although that's not been common at most B12 stadiums for us (looking at you, TTU, so much trash talk when we visited there...)

LES was loud and engaged, even tho the game was out of reach quick. The brownies were next level! We didn't get ice cream but saw that it was from the BYU Creamery, some fancy flavor. Cougar Tails were great, my kids each had one (one maple, one milk chocolate.) I liked the "know your opponent" piece they did on the video board before the game, listing lots of facts about ISU, current NFL players, etc. Famous alum? A former LDS President was an ISU grad. The band playing Fights! was cool (OU also does that.) I didn't see the Y light up, kind of missed where it was in relation to us, but found it later in the game. Free bus (UVX) made getting to and from the game real easy.

We took in some other sites, saw a lot of interesting stuff. Gilgal Sculpture Garden, Temple Square, Bridal Vail Falls, Sundance Mountain Resort, Roots of Knowledge Stained Glass at Utah Valley University (UVU may be bigger than both BYU and UU, by enrollment numbers.)

And the food was pretty great! We hit In N Out (always do when we get to an area that has it), Cubby's on Friday night (tri-tip sandwiches and shakes), and Sweet's Island for lunch on Saturday (Hawaiian bowls.)

I'm in for a trip out in 2026! May even head out for the Utah game next year, but kind of expect a different experience in SLC. At least I know where the good food in Orem/Provo is!

I don't know how it felt in the stadium, but on TV it looked like they had an uncanny amount of blue LED lights everywhere. It looked like my 10 year old's bedroom.
I didn’t notice them on TV until I saw them on one of our helmets and was afraid it was a WVa laser deal, but husband explained where they were coming from.

The Jack Trice piece makes me feel a lot better about changes in their fan base after the Melvin incident. He was such a standup guy. I think their incident in the game where they pelted officials with trash and profanity after losing to Utah in football was the same year just a few months apart.

Obviously the experience was enhanced by the way the game played out, but definitely one of my favorite road trips I’ve done.

Thought it was a really cool atmosphere; BYU fans were pretty into it, but we probably didn’t see it at its best because ISU took the wind out of their sails so quickly. Closest we probably got was when it was 10-7 for that short stretch.

Agree on the overall friendliness and welcoming of the fans. Eager to help when we couldn’t find our section (it is a little confusing if the Cougar fans here are relaying suggestions). We got yelled at a couple times as we were finding our seats, but I got more of a “trying to be funny” vibe vs any sort of hostility. BYU fans around us were great even as we stood up and cheered on our good plays.

Couple beyond us made a “hey that guys name is Bacon” comment when he appeared on the Jumbotron so I showed them the Pork Producers ad; they loved it.

Overall a great experience and would recommend putting it on your stadium bucket list. Do stay in SLC if you want anything resembling nightlife.
I would also recommend staying in Park City. It takes about the same amount of time to drive to Provo (although much more scenic) and has a great night life due to the ski resorts and the Sundance Film Festival being there every year.

There was one annoying (drunk) ISU fan in front of who was getting a little mouthy. Thankfully he left about halfway through. Outside of that, the rest of us were all in good form. At least everyone within 10 rows of us.

It’s ok. There was one idiot BYU fan a couple rows up who booed when the ISU team came out onto the field.

We gave him the stink eye (no middle fingers from us … Mormons rely on more passive-aggressive looks and gestures).

My wife said “That’s pretty dumb to boo the other team for showing up to play the game that bought a ticket for.”

My group and I had a really good time. Pretty much agree with everyone's comments. The one thing that stood out to me though was all the things they did in between breaks. Can tell it would really help with the energy and keep it fun. Wish we could implement some of those things. If the game were close I could see how the 3rd/4th quarter show would have really got the crowd going crazy. Also the stadium just smelled really good with all of the food and sweets. Ha

Did feel bad at times when cheering and typical swearing would come out from us. You would have BYU fans in front do a quick turnaround and give us an eye. Would bet it happens all the time with being by the visiting sections though. Just different where you kind of had to watch yourself to be respectful.

I giggled at all the "popular" music and creative edits - like "Jump Around" without the verses. So I did my best Everlast, "Pack it up pack it in, let me begin. I came to win, battle me that's sin..." My oldest asked if they didn't know that Kanye had had some "issues" with his comments... :jimlad:

I was at the game in Provo

Was a really positive and pleasant experience. They have a beautiful stadium, would have been really picture-esque if kickoff was a couple of hours earlier. The fans were loud on the few instances they had something to cheer about, and extremely friendly and nice. We were not sitting in the visitor section, we were two red dots in a sea of blue. BYU fans were introducing themselves to us, chatting with us about what to expect from their team and asking about our team, and even giving us a high fives when isu made good plays.

The last away game I’ve been to was in Iowa city, I had to have a chuckle about the contrast in the way we were treated.

Overall would love to go back, SLC is really cool and we were able to check out some breweries and good eats.

Only complaint was the lack of tailgating. We went to the only bar in Provo before the game, they were understaffed and underprepared for the amount of cyclone fans in there.

You could say that again - 1 bartender (& only 2 other staff in the place, besides maybe a cook somewhere) for what, ~150-200 people? There was a 15+ minute line every single time you needed another drink. Guessing they could have sold at least double if they had another couple people working. Only saw a couple people in BYU gear there, ha!

Sounds like it got worse. We got there right when they opened. Ended up having a few apps and a couple of rounds. Bounced after the Mizzou game was done.

I thoroughly enjoyed the trip and experience. We made a family vacation of the trip, used Amtrak and stayed in an AB&B.

The one theme that explains the experience more than anything is how "nice" everyone was. The BYU experience and fan base are first class.

I would highly recommend a BYU game trip to everyone who would ask. Next year we will go to Utah. It will be interesting to see the differences.

I posted in the premium board, but Iowa State should take a page from BYU regarding media timeouts from the music to fan engagement activities.

I took a video of each different song and sent to the family back home with the reference - this isn't Jack.

This is something that we BYU fans are interested in hearing as well. We want to give our visiting fans the best possible experience. If there are things we can improve on or do differently we would love to hear it. The athletic department is really good at listening to fans about ways to improve the fan experience and any good feedback will definitely get passed up the chain.
i wasn’t there, but maybe they should focus on having a competitive team instead of worrying about visiting fans. It would have been fun watching the a$$ whooping in person.

Lighten up. It was said in jest.
