Everyone was so nice. Like beyond anything I've ever experienced as a visitor. We were by the BYU TV broadcast, a young man sought us out, chatted us up, told us about all the traditions to look for (the team walking thru that crowd, coach taking selfies w/ everyone, Cosmo's stunt, etc.) Then he stopped to watch the Jack Trice piece BYU TV did intently, commenting, "wow, that's a powerful story!" Many BYU fans went out of their way to welcome us. Zero trash talk, although that's not been common at most B12 stadiums for us (looking at you, TTU, so much trash talk when we visited there...)
LES was loud and engaged, even tho the game was out of reach quick. The brownies were next level! We didn't get ice cream but saw that it was from the BYU Creamery, some fancy flavor. Cougar Tails were great, my kids each had one (one maple, one milk chocolate.) I liked the "know your opponent" piece they did on the video board before the game, listing lots of facts about ISU, current NFL players, etc. Famous alum? A former LDS President was an ISU grad. The band playing Fights! was cool (OU also does that.) I didn't see the Y light up, kind of missed where it was in relation to us, but found it later in the game. Free bus (UVX) made getting to and from the game real easy.
We took in some other sites, saw a lot of interesting stuff. Gilgal Sculpture Garden, Temple Square, Bridal Vail Falls, Sundance Mountain Resort, Roots of Knowledge Stained Glass at Utah Valley University (UVU may be bigger than both BYU and UU, by enrollment numbers.)
And the food was pretty great! We hit In N Out (always do when we get to an area that has it), Cubby's on Friday night (tri-tip sandwiches and shakes), and Sweet's Island for lunch on Saturday (Hawaiian bowls.)
I'm in for a trip out in 2026! May even head out for the Utah game next year, but kind of expect a different experience in SLC. At least I know where the good food in Orem/Provo is!
