McKinnon and David Johnson would make for a decent one-two punch in Minnesota.

Yes they would and Minnesota could potentially be better off because of it.

Even before the whole switch episode I've been saying the Vikings needed to see what they could get for him and build for the future. They have some good young talent to build off of right now and it's time they shore up the OL and holes on D. In today's league there is no reason to build a team around a RB even one as good as AP. They have had some good seasons with him but are they really in a better position as a franchise after throwing gobs of money at him than if they had spent it on multiple positions.

RB is such a fungible commodity, however. I would think, maybe, Indianapolis learned its lesson after the Richardson fiasco when you can get 90% of an all-pro running back for 5% the price as a free agent pickup? Yes, AP is good, but their problem isn't scoring or moving the ball--their issue is on the defensive side, particularly the front seven.

I'd much rather have Suh as them for the same dollars. Much larger position of need where you can't just synthesize production and talent out of basically nothing like you can at RB.

Suh would be much more expensive

I support Adrian 100%. Vikings wanted to do the right thing and back their MVP, but they decided it wasn't worth the negative PR from the media.

In the exact same situation, the Packers would have backed Rodgers, the Broncos would have backed Peyton, the Patriots would have backed Brady, the Seahawks would have backed Wilson, the Niners would have backed Kap.

backed to what degree? It's easy to say that, but what exactly would the Packers, Broncos, Patriots, and Seahawks have done differently if their respective star, in the wake of the Ray Rice scandal, had child abuse charges levied against them, complete with horrific pictures?

Exactly. He's got a kid in virtually every major metropolitan area. Has one he never even met get murdered, then beats the hell out of one with a stick. Did some people expect the Vikings to throw him a parade?

Vikes also had big sponsors pulling their support and more possibly ready to do the same.

This is why I wouldn't make a good owner of an NFL team. I'd tell him if he isn't in camp, to get a nice supply of popcorn, put batteries in the remote and make sure his Direct TV subscription is paid up, because he'll be watching the NFL from home. We aren't trading you.

Uh no. Simply not happening giving all the circumstances around this. Time doesn't heal all pain(s), or at least shouldn't. And AP is no longer the "star" in MN. That belongs to Teddy B.

QUOTE]

AP might think the Vikes were in on things with the NFL, but I think their input was limited. I can see AP being upset with the NFL as their actions with him were not within the rules of the CBA, but he's now biting the hand that feeds him. Nobody other than the Vikings will pay him $13 million this year. I hope Jerry will, but I doubt it. Until Adrian knows what other teams would be willing to pay, he is just trying to throw away more money.

As expected the federal judge ruled that the NFL was not following the CBA and just making stuff up as they went along.

From the Doty ruling:
"Nothing in the record supports a finding that the NFLPA asked Henderson to determine whether the discipline imposed was consistent with the previous Policy. Moreover, Henderson's conclusion that the New Policy is consistent with the previous Policy is contradicted by the Commissioner's own statements in which he acknowledged that the New Policy included "changes" to the Policy."

Goodell is an idiot and provides no leadership. Everything is just a knee jerk reaction. After the initial Ray Rice fiasco he decided that a domestic violence first offense was a six game suspension. Once Peterson did his plea bargain he suspended him indefinitely which was clearly contrary to his new policy.

I know it won't happen, but now that Reggie is no longer with the Lions, AP for Suh.

his value is nowhere near that, though. If Minnesota can get a 2nd round pick and maybe another late round pick for him, they should jump at it. Plus, D-line is one of the bright spots on the team. Suh would obviously improve it, but it's not a need position.

I think you're right. My guess-- Dallas trades a 2nd and 4th round pick for AP and he agrees to go to Dallas with a restructured contract (less than the $13 million he would have made with the Vikes.)

as a Vikings fan, I'd actually be fine with that. Shoot, a late 2nd round pick might net you one of the top 4-5 running backs in the draft, if they're looking for a replacement. Otherwise, I know Rick Spielman likes to trade up. Packaging those picks with the Vikings current 2nd rounder likely gets you back into the first round to select another impact player. Prior to the last month or so of last season, I couldn't imagine how the Vikings would go on without Peterson. Now, it's sort of a meh situation. If he's back, that's great. if not, that's okay too.
