Not sure I would characterize Williams as a nomad coach. His career path is a reality of the profession- move around at a young assistant to gain experience and exposure to great head coaching minds. Then work your way up the head coaching ranks.

Buzz grew up in Texas and was an assistant at A&M. He was at Marquette 6 years, bumped up to a traditional 2nd Tier ACC School with Va Tech for 5 years and is now heading home to Texas. My guess is he done moving for a while.

Shaka Smart better get his act together because there are some stud head coaches among P5 schools in Texas.

Buzz must not like to sit still.

This is true. He's said so publicly. This was discussed on a recent Eye on College Basketball podcast by Parrish and Norlander. To summarize, Buzz theorizes that years of solid success at one place raises expectations to a point that's extremely difficult to achieve. So to avoid this point of what he deems unreasonable pressure, he thinks it's best to start fresh every 5-7 years. I recall the end of Jamie Dixon's run at Pitt was cited as an example of what Buzz is getting at.
