With what is supposed to be Boxing's biggest fight approaching I want to know what people think of this one time glamorous sport... A friend asked if I was going to get PPV for the fight and I simply had no interest at all... On the other hand I can't wait to see Norwalk's own Jeremy 'the little heathen' Stephens make is UFC debut on PPV later this month.... Is Boxing dead? Is UFC the wave of the future? There is a nice debate on this subject on Sportsline, beleive it or not Doyel actually makes some good points.

Some reasons I prefer UFC
-Shorter, more action packed fights
-RARELY a contraversial decision
-A combination of many skills. I love watching the fights where styles
clash, nothing like a boxer against a wrestler!

UFC all the way. I used to be a big boxing fan in the era of Marvelous Marvin Hagler, but boxing will never rise to it's former greatness unless they get it together and form one recognized title belt. In the UFC, you know who the best of the best is, because you see them fight each other on a regular basis. Everytime I think to myself that I want to see two fighters face off, they put the match together within months.

Boxing is a controlled sport and fixed fights occur all the time IMHO. Boxing is done. It's hard to even get two decent fighters in the same ring.

The UFC is focused on entertaining and the actual fight. They don't like boring fights. The people in the UFC and PRIDE seem to be fairly intelligent people as well. I have been a little surprised by that fact. They try to create good matchups and great fights. That's what boxing should be.

I'll take the UFC or PRIDE all the way.

Quite simply, neither. For some reason I just don't enjoy watching two people beat the living crap out of each other. Must explain why I'm a hockey fan.:yes4lo:

I love them both, but if boxing can't clean up the management of the sport, it's really going to struggle in the future.

I also can't stand a UFC match that is a bunch of wrestling and guys just trying to do submissions on each other. That's really boring to me.

I've never been a boxing fan (except when Rocky beat Ivan Drago). From practicing different martial arts, you realize how limited boxing is. I always thought kickboxing was a bit more fun to watch, and now UFC (and its spinoffs) allows for a more realistic fighting scheme. But even the UFC fights follow a similar pattern after awhile.... if one dude shoots he either 1. gets a knee or foot in the face... or 2. gets his opponent down and they lay there wrapped together trying to punches in at each others faces.
