The 'U16 Attack team' was combined with the 'U17 Attack' team to form 2 'U17 Attack teams' now; a black and a red squad. All the U16 members (4 this tournament) played on one squad with 4 or 5 U17 members while the other squad was all U17 players.
The all U17 squad won the U17 tournament, beating the U17 Iowa Barnstormers in the championship. The U16/17 squad, with Harrison and the other U16 players, lost by close to 30 in the semifinals to the U17 Iowa Barnstormers.
In the U16 division, the 'Ames Cyclones' beat Howard Pulley by around 17 or 18 points to win the championship. The 'Cyclones' had the likes of McDermott's son Doug, Chanse Creekmur of Marshalltown, 5 players from Ames, and a couple from the Des Moines area. This seemed to be a newer team assembled with random players from Martin Brothers, Barnstormers, and a couple ex-Attack players. They were also coached by Curtis Stinson, Lucca Staiger, Diante Garret, Charles Boozer, Rashon Clark, and were directed by an Ames man.
Overall, the Attack U17 looked phenomenal, while the U17/U16 looked to have some issues. On the U17 side, Reece Uhlenhopp of Urbandale looked great down low and also shooting from the outside. Bill Freeman of Des Moines Roosevelt also showed his extreme athleticism throughout the tournament with some impressive dunks. Barnes looked great most of the tournament for the U16/17 team, putting up great numbers, but in the semifinals against the U17 Barnstormer's seemed off; perhaps a reason why they lost by around 30.
The U16Cyclones were very impressive and put up big numbers as a team the entire tournament. Scoring seemed exceptionally balanced between McDermott, Creekmur, and James Wandling of Ames. Creekmur from Marshalltown stirred up alot of talk putting up 25+ points in 4 of the 6 games.
