So Iowa State played the second toughest opponent in the first week - good to know. Iowa beat the 99th ranked team and face the 93rd ranked team next Saturday.

You'd think Kansas' first two weeks against #118 and #134 would be the worst first two week schedule in the league but OSU, Taco Tech, Purple Kansas, Baylor and even TCU - despite not even having an opponent next week - all make sure Kansas has plenty of company.

Fans really underestimate how good UNI is most years. Yes, we should beat them every time we have a decent team, but UNI, along with other top FCS teams are better than a handful of P5 teams every year (Oregon State, Kansas, Rutgers...) and would probably finish in the middle to upper part of most G5 conferences. They typically have good starters with depth being their weakness due to scholarship limits, but that doesn't really come into play when you play them the first game of the year.

How do you think the board would be if Saturday had been against KU or Rutgers? I don’t think it would be tangibly different. This is also in the context of looking to build on the past two 8 win seasons, seasons in which the offense is generally what was lacking to reach double digit wins.

A lot to like from Saturday, mostly in terms of personnel and potential. But also a lot of what led to the early season losses a year ago.

That's why the SEC waits until October/November to play them.
