I use the stock DroidX/blur weather widget which is powered by Accuweather, not much to it in terms of severe weather though. I don't have any other weather apps, but I may start checking some out as storm season approaches.

Not specifically a weather app, but Scanner Radio is a pretty good one right now. It streams police and emergency channels world-wide. Local scanners of interest include Polk Co Sheriff/suburbs, DSM Metro Police and Fire, Dallas Co, Ames Police, DSM Weather, etc. Marshall Co/Marshalltown Police are on there too.

Accuweather for Honeycomb is really good, but for Android they all suck. Beautiful Weather is what I use.

The old weather channel asp was perfect. Sucks now. I use weather bug now. Its as god as the old weather channel app, except for the widget, which sucks on weather bug.

I used to use the weather bug and finally got rid of it. I believe it was causing issues with my GPS.

I use weather bug elite and love it. No issues with the GPS here and you can use 'My Location' on it and posts warnings when they come up. It also comes with a live wallpaper deal that the weather radar becomes live wallpaper on the home screen of your droid. I have had no problems with it. It is the paid version of weatherbug but it wasn't that much and I have tried a bunch of weather apps and this one is my favorite. Slows the crap out of my computer when installed but no issues on the droid.

Is there a 2x2 widget? Don't care for live wallpapers. Drain battery and too distracting.

Yes there is a 2x2 widget. And maybe I am wrong about it being live wallpaper. It automatically updates every 15 minutes or something like that if the phone does not go into sleep mode(like when it is plugged in) otherwise it updates when the phone is turned on again.

My samsung acclaim android ran out of battery really early today. My battery usage meter said 70% of the battery was used for the android processor. A guy I know told me it is most likely because a lot of the apps are running in the background using up your battery. Anybody know how to close these apps so they don't use up all of your battery?

I really like iMap Weather the big plus for me is the looping radar.

Really wish RadarScope would make an android app, they have such a fantastic, albeit pricey, iphone radar app.

New radar app for Droid

Same guy isn't it? Mike Brady?

I think its a different people. I've read up on some of the work being done with pykle3 but think its a bit still has some work to be done before its worth paying for. The guy has been a pretty regular updater on the weather forums I frequent about what improvements he's working on and I think in a few more months its going to be a very nice product.

Get Advanced Task Killer. You can have it close all of the crap you don't want running every 15 minutes or so. Some of it will keep opening, but it does improve battery life.

Task killers are not needed in Froyo or greater versions. Actually, they won't even work. What you really want is Watchdog. It will alert you if an app is using excessive CPU in the background. Also, check your settings under accounts & sync. Remove anything you don't need.

As for my OP: I have avoided Weatherbug because of all the crap they put on your PC. But, their Android app is the bomb. Very cadres and has everything I want. Thanks for all the suggestions.

EDIT: What the heck is 'cadres' and how does autocomplete come up with that?
