Okay, I need recommendations. Since George's went out of business in both Ames and Nevada, we've been looking for a good super-thin crust pizza. I always remembered that Community Pizza's was amazing up in Ft. Diggity when I was younger, but I had it two weeks ago and it was sort of terrible.

Any recommendations for a good, crispy thin crust pizza in Central Iowa? (Preferably near Ames.)

Vesu Vius

See, I'm torn on VesuVius. Every time I go, the crust is great (although it sometimes tastes burn-y from the fire), but I've had standing water from the toppings in the middle of my pizza. It's just never been great to me. It has been a while since I've had Chips' woodfire pizza, maybe there?

I love their crust and the burnt part takes it over the top for me. I also like my marshmallows burnt for s'mores. I've never experienced the standing water problem but I go for the simpler pizzas on the menu. Quality ingredients require less toppings for me.The #2, #6 and #9 are my staples.

I like Belluci's Pizza in Boone. I haven't had it in quite a while, but it was good when I had it.

I've heard it's amazing - we may have to drive to M-town sometime soon. And if it's terrible, doesn't their Hardees have bacon cheese fries or something?

There is no such thing as a good thin crust pizza

WTF is wrong with you?!? I'm taking back my mod recommendation.

And I'm the total opposite - HATE burnt flavor. Will pick it off marshmallows, will try and scrape it off of toast, etc. I think that would definitely make the difference.

I forgot about Belluci's! Theirs was good, but I haven't had it in forever. Didn't Tic Toc used to have thin crust pizza, too? I know their whole format has changed a ton.

Something Italian - For those unaware, it is downtown in the skywalk.

I haven't ever heard of that - is it only open during the day, or also at night/weekends?

Last time I ordered them they did but it's been some time. Hardee's is excellent. I know Zeno's isn't terrible.

Mistake.

Burnt flavor is great, I always light my marshmallows on fire and leave the pizza in extra long. Popcorn too.

This is an easy one. Bordenaro's on SW 9th in Des Moines. Best pizza in town IMO.

Second would probably be Chuck's or The Tavern. Can't go wrong with either of those either.

Okay, that's two for Pagliai's. I've heard it's great, but never made it down. I'll have to try it. That photo on their front page alone makes me hungry.
