Olympic Trials start later this week. Best of luck Lisa trying to make the US Track & Field team.

I understand she will have to run a personal best in the 10k to make it.

Go Cyclones!!

This is the challenge of this race. She has to be in the top 3 to make the team and have one time at 10k (not necessarily in this race) that is like 26 seconds faster than her personal best. I don't think that she necessarily has to run that at the trials. She just has to run it before a certain qualifying date. If you finish in the top three at the trials and don't have the qualifying time before that date, the spot on the team trickles down to someone who does. 26 seconds is 1 second faster per lap essentially so it's not out of the questions but if the race is tactical she might not get the time.

I would bet that she won't make the "A" Standard at the trials which is needed to run in Bejing. The trials are typically very tactical. If she can be top 3, then she can go to Europe to try and make the "A" Standard. Meets meet directors in Europe spend lots of money for rabbits to set the pace for the other runners.

Similar situation for me, except it was as a lowly freshman and sophomore. Always was an great runner, lots of work ethic and very friendly(also pretty cute). Its amazing the progress she's made in college though. To go from top 5 in the state to top 10 in the nation is a huge jump. Go Lisa!

Lisa's race just began, on USA right now.
I'm tired just watching...and I ran XC fall '06 and distance in track '07. I remember running my junior year in Humboldt and watching Lisa annihilate the field.
