We're not a great team right now.... Not sure what the point of your post was. Are we rivals? I don't think so....I've got nothing against Iowa State, and think you have a fantastic coach. I don't even dislike BDJ, and I was disappointed or upset at him for leaving UNLV. I just thought I'd see how you guys felt about him, and I noticed this thread was trending and thought I'd weigh in.

ISU fans are just going to be bitter to UNLV fans for quite a while. Imagine if your most hyped recruit in decades had a 4-5 year relationship with your coach and had UNLV as his top choice until the end of recruiting period. At the last minute a WCC team with a losing record swoops in and gets his signature along with giving a job to somebody close to him.

I'm sure you have a different spin on it, but that's how ISU fans are going to feel about UNLV for the next decade or so.

Anyway, like I said, if our fans are upset about BDJ's shot selection at 47%fg imagine how they'd feel about Vaughn chucking a much higher volume shots and only making 34%.

you'll find post #'s are directly attributed to your opinion's weight here...and also that you aren't allowed to pragmatically discuss things with some people...such as your thoughts on someone that may not be "popular", without people getting ****** off and defensive.

I appreciated your comments because I think it speaks from another side of the situation and lends to better understanding a situation.

I think people feel that any discussion that is not in a positive light is dragging a guy through the mud when in fact, it's to try and discuss exactly the types of things you brought up.

No doubt it's difficult for EVERYONE involved to have a new guy come in who has experience, past challenges and some hype to live up to. I have no idea whether he'll end up being good, great or a bust...he was pretty darn good last night...and my ONLY issue was what appeared to be his demeanor combined with his flagrant, which could have simply been frustration manifesting as such.

He's played fine his biggest problem, he's not Deandre Kane. The ppl after him are the same ppl who anointed him the next Royce,Clyburn, Kane before he ever wore a Cyclone uni. The guy (with Edozie) carried us in the first half last night. Im just fine with how he's played.

Now his technical foul....that was a bush league move, hopefully that's not a preview of the his attitude. It was the reaction a little kid has when things aren't going their way, def not what we want from a guy who should be senior leader

I remember a senior leader who threw up the bird in a moment of frustration. Not sure what his name was though...

Point being, this type of stuff happens in athletics. High horse riders are going to criticize but it can and will happen to any player.

BDJ was literally the only guy not having a bad game last night and did his best to carry the team for a win and people complain about him basically because of 1 dumb push foul?
Some of our fans are absolute trash

Some? I would actually say much more then some are trash. I would actually use a word worse than trash, but it would just show up as ******. These people walk around with their nose in the air and they think their **** don't stink, but it does, big time.

Just ignore the a-holes. Most ISU fans are bitter at UNLV because they can't get over their severe butthurt. Some of them actually feel that we were entitled to get Vaughn. Isn't that delusional? lol. We lost a recruit to a different school, big deal. I forgot about it the next day.

I don't blame him for the foul at all. Would it have been better for the team to keep his cool? Sure. But I wanted him to put that punk Layman on the floor hard.

Layman's last dunk during a deadball when he hung on the rim for a 360...I'll live 1000 years before I see an ISU player do that and not draw a technical. We get techs for that if it's during a live ball and there's a player underneath us, let alone if we did it all alone after the whistle blew the play dead.

If that's not what Iowa State wanted or needed, or if that's not the way Iowa State runs their offense and you thought you could bring him in and "reform" him...that Hoiberg was going to work magic on him (lol), you're not going to be happy.

The guy is very stubborn, and it's why he's at his 3rd school....leaving both the previous schools he's been at with year-end altercations. He's gifted, no doubt...but, we'll see how it works out.

From someone who doesn't follow ISU basketball I'm not surprised by your skepticism. But he is the 4th or 5th, I lose count, time we've heard this from a fan of the team they've left. It's never been then case yet, they've all improved immensly.

Ignore the idiots bagging on BDJ. He carried ISU through some rough spots last night but the more emotional members of this board like to balme the new guy every year.

BJD's foul looked stupid and I didn't understand it, but I don't think you can say he had a bad attitude last night. BJD and Naz were the only two guys making plays down the stretch. We were down 10+ and largely behind the play BJD we cut the lead down to 6. I saw a guy trying to pull out an improbable win for his team. I thought to myself that we needed to continue to get him the ball if we were going to have the chance to win. He is not Kane, he doesn't play the point, so we need to get him the ball in most cases to allow him to make plays. After we cut it to 6, we didn't even seem to look for him. I was disappointed in how we played last night, but my issue wasn't with BJD. We looked like a selfish team last night, but BJD didn't look selfish to me.

I don't know why this bothers people so much. I just have to assume you've never played a sport with officials and been good at said sport.

Reacting to a ticky tack foul is one thing, but whining to the refs on every single call is just sickening to watch. Even my 7th grader mentioned how stupid it looks and how he's not going to do that in his games.

Honestly I thought for the most part the refs were consistent, even if they weren't calling anything. However, there were some calls that I thought they should have made but didn't, or at least didn't start calling them until late in the game. It was very physical and not a lot of fouls were called.
Anyway, complaining to the refs really isn't a big deal. It doesn't affect the game at all, unless you're whining while the other team is in transition or something. It's not a big deal. Niang talks to the refs arguably more than anyone I've seen in recent memory. More than Hogue, I think.

Consistently throwing his hands up in the air on the break when Monte didn't give him the ball. Then acting disgusted and pouting when he had to come out. The kid has a ton of potential but it would be nice to see an assist from him in the near future.

His actions were mild in comparison to mine during the game.

I can't tell if you're trolling..? Layman had a ton of momentum and if he had let go, he probably would've launched into the padding of the hoop. He didn't do anything excessive. If an ISU player did that and got called for it, we would all be ******** about it for days.

Lol, he's 3rd on the team in assists and had 7 earlier this season. When you shoot 30% from the floor, assists are hard to come by.

All of the people ripping on BDJ need to step back from the site for a bit. I don't ever see guys ripping Georges for throwing stupid passed and stupid shots (me included, but he took some last night). It's probably a good thing you have the guys getting frustrated. No one wants to lose. BDJ came here to win. That's why he's frustrated. Sure, the foul at the end was stupid. But don't make it out to be like he was head hunting. Fred wouldn't have brought him in if he questioned his character or his ability to play as a team. Quit thrashing the kid for playing on two poor teams before this.

He's very new to the team. It's not fair to not give him time to adjust. I'd be a little more concerned if it were February.

I get the point of these forums is to spark conversation and voice your opinion. However, I have seen a lot whining on here lately, makes our fan base look like a bunch fare weather hawk fans, and I am starting to get nauseous reading this all.

At the end of the day, you whining isn’t going to change anything, and if the players happen to read this garbage you all write about them then it will likely make them play worse. There are reasons the guys we have playing are playing and they don’t need to be know to us. We have the BEST coach in college basketball, he WILL find a way to win game.

This. Starting to get pretty annoyed by this. Remember the irrational Thomas bashing last year, and how we found out it actually got to him through Twitter. Enough. If everyone played against their man the way BDJ did last night ISU is undefeated. It wasn't remotely the case.

This board needs a whipping boy at all times and new guys seem to always be the target. People on here were ragging on Kane for hero ball or lacking composure or "body language" while he was almost always composed and put the team on his shoulders when we were having bad games.

Unfortunately I think the irrational expectations for Thomas are not as bad but still remain. Look out if he goes cold for a few games.

People are overthinking this. Maybe we had a bad game early in the year on a 20 hour turnaround. And maybe replacing the conf player of the year and another guy who was even better takes a little time to figure out.
