Can someone make a logical argument that Virginia Tech is NOT being screwed?

They were ranked higher than LSU going into last week. Virginia Tech had a better win with BC being ranked 11 and Tennessee being ranked 14. Both teams win their conference championship.

To me, the only thing you can say is LSU's injuries and they still win.

Yeah they really moved LSU and OK up in the polls after the wins yesterday yet VT doesn't move at all, KU goes back a spot and Hawaii doesn't move from #10. The Coach's poll and AP seemed odd to me but that is what you get with that many teams around 1-2 losses.

LSU killed Va. Tech 48-7 earlier in the season. That's probably why they're behind LSU in the BCS argument.

Great, the matchup everyone wants to see.

OSU will get destroyed again, controversy will reign again with more and more people crying for a playoff. We will not hear legit arguments about having a playoff because ESPN and ABC own rights to so many bowl games. If I read correctly ESPN actually OWNS 5 bowl games! The whole system is corrupt!

But VaTech was ahead of LSU in the BCS polls as of yesterday. What did LSU do yesterday to pass them?

They beat Tennessee while VT beat BC. While I think Tennessee is better than BC by a bit, BC was ranked ahead of them in the polls.

By looking today's polls, the voters made a statement that they felt the SEC was tougher than the Big 12, ACC and PAC-10.

I can't say I disagree, but pretty much any of the teams in the top 6-8 have a valid claim here. And a person could toss Hawaii into that argument too, at #10.

I agree they should get more respect, but I think it all has to do with the strength of the conference.

Why do the pollsters keep giving LSU second and third chances to get to the BCS title game? They already had two cracks at it, and they choked them both away. Maybe LSU is the most talented team in the country, but they lost to two SEC teams with .500 or worse conference records when they had a chance to lock up their postseason destination. I'm no Ohio State fan (in fact, I pretty much hate them), but I hope they beat LSU, because the Tigers have no business playing for the national title with the way they kept stumbling in the clutch this year.

I was hoping OU could have made big enough splash last night to get them in, but i guess they were too far behind. I think the voters did a good job in not allowing Georgia of Kansas to stay up where they were, and putting teams who were actually conference champions up their first.

I agree that the SEC is the strongest conference. I don't think that's debatable. I also think that LSU is the best team in the country. However, in my opinion, they blew their chance against Arkansas. That's supposed to be the major benefit of the current bowl system. The regular season matters so much.

I just feel bad for VaTech. There would be a lot of people on this board complaining if this happened to a Big 12 team.

I saw this bowl scenario elsewhere, someone put together how they expect it to shake out. Seems logical, yet the person did state they are looking forward to the Big 10/SEC games (3) and the Big 10 losing, so do think they are a little biased....

BCS Title game---OSU/LSU
Orange Bowl------VT/Kans.
Fiesta-----------OKLA/WV
Sugar------------UGA/HAW.
Rose-------------USC/Ill.

Cap1-------------FLOR/MICH.
Gator------------TT/VIRG.
Cotton-----------MISSOU/ARK.
Outback----------WISC/TENN.

It's more what they DIDN'T do.

They didn't lose to a 4 win Pittsburgh team that they were favored to beat by 28.

Life is happy today in Cecil and Mary Rhodes' home in Ankeny, since their son Paul, a former ISU asst, was the architect of the defense that shut down West Virginia

I would put Arizona State in the BCS ahead of Illinois, but Zook will probably squeeze in as the first 3 loss team to get an at large invite

I will be perfectly happy watching tOSU getting smeared by another SEC team. Hell, I'd be perfectly happy watching tOSU getting smeared by ANY team from another conference.

I have to laugh at some of the Little 11 fan justifications as to exactly why Ohio State deserves to play in the title game. My favorite argument: "OSU had to play a tough conference schedule. Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, and PSU were all ranked at some point this year." (4 games)

Teams LSU has played that were ranked "at some point this year": VT, South Carolina, Florida, Kentucky, Auburn, Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee (8 games)

Georgia: South Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, Auburn, Kentucky, GT (7 games)

USC: Nebraska, Oregon, California, Arizona State, UCLA (5 games)

Virginia Tech: LSU, Clemson, Boston College (twice), GT, Florida State, Miami, Virginia (8 games)

Oklahoma: Miami, Texas, Mizzou (twice), Texas A&M, Texas Tech (6 games)

Typical effect of a Big 10 education. Not checking to make sure your point helps rather than hurts your point. Also, note that every other team on that list played a RANKED non-conference opponent.

Ohio State, if you want some respect, maybe you should schedule some non-conference opponents that do better than a combined 11-26 record in the FCS division (7-4 in FBS)

Okay. How does West Virginia losing have any effect whatsoever on Virginia Tech?

I agree.. if they put Georgia in the national championship I think I would puke.. if you don't win a conference title you don't belong.. Georgia is a heck of a football team, but without the title they haven't proven much.
