What does Railey's committment mean for the recruitment of JUCO post player Wilkins? We now have 3 commits for 2010, which fills the slots of JVB, Brackins, and Gilstrap.

I would assume someone will leave after this year with the glut of guards on tap for next year. No inside info, not going to name names and I encourage others not to either.

I would be utterly shocked if we redshirted Railey, we need the bodies.

if they think Pomlee is ready he will play over Railey...they will redshirt him to build a big 12 body i mean we will still have HAM Pomlee and Dendy. But your right we may need him if Pomlee doesnt develope

I'd guess the only way he redshirts next year is if Dorr is better than him. So I'm guessing no redshirt.

Hamilton didn't redshirt and Railey is coming to Iowa State much more polished. Players don't really redshirt anymore in today's college basketball.

Railey signing pretty much means the staff is either expecting

A) Brackins and Gilstrap to both be gone
B) somebody to transfer

If we went into the season only counting on 3 big guys, I'd be extremely worried. I'd put good money on Railey being on the floor next year.

I bet we sign one more player in this class. I don't know who or even what position. I also don't know where the scholarship will come from but I think we'll sign 4.

Correct on all accounts.

And to answer the JUCO big man question, we will only take a 4th player in this class (JUCO big man in the spring) if both A & B are true.

and there is just no way that Railey redshirts. We didn't redshirt Dorr this season for depth in the post, and we will be far FAR less deep in the post next year.

We didn't redshirt Dorr this season because he is a walk-on, and most walk-ons don't want to pay for a fifth year. Palo is a different situation, may think he'll have a chance to play more and probably got some academic money, I believe he was pretty smart. Dorr hasn't played anything but mop up minutes, isn't needed for depth.
Dorr is from my hometown, I would love to see him play, but only reason he wasn't redshirted is because he is paying his own way. He is also probably 6'5" or so, 6'7" at best, regardless of what he is listed, not going to help much in the post, Cory Johnson couldn't do it either.

Wilkins def. not out.

That would be good. Probably means the transfer of a current player from the crowded backcourt roster but adding a frontcourt talent like Wilkins would more than make up that loss, especially if CB and MG aren't back. And the transferring player likely gets more PT someplace else.
