For people that don't know, Baylor has been quietly improving its standing in all sorts of its sports, and not just football and basketball. And their campus is quite nice, with some great new buildings.

I for one am quite happy to be in a conference with them. They have to put up with all sorts of crap from all the south schools, and they just keep improving themselves. They actually have quite a football coach, it isn't all Griffin. Coach Briles seems like a cool dude, and IIRC, he really built up Houston before he left.

As time goes on, I hope we get rid of the jokers who think they are too good for the rest of us, and build the conference back up with some of the other fine schools in the midwest and Texas.

Thanks for the compliment. When we joined the Big 12 we had poor leadership at presidency. Robert Sloan did everything he could to destroy BU including athletics. It took 10 years to get his butt out and since he stacked the BOR with religious nuts we made another poor hire after him in John Lilly. He lasted 2 years. Many of us wanted Bill Underwood (BU law professor current Mercer president) who was the prior interim to Lilly to take over. He was too liberal in the BOR eyes although he really wasn't. Enter Ken Starr who left the beaches of Malibu, California to come back to Texas. Thank God

Coach Briles was an excellent hire and many of us advocated him for the job. There was a battle to hire him because many BU folks wanted Mike Singletary. However our AD Ian McCaw didnt budge and to his credit pulled the trigger. Briles was the only coach to recruit RG3 as a QB. Man knows talent. Aggy thinks when RG3 leaves we will be terrible. Dumbasses don't realize that Briles recuited and coached Kevin Kolb, Case Kennum, and RG3 in succession.

Really enjoying your knowledgable posts aray and agree with you on all points, especially that we north teams need to keep our Texas ties for recruiting. I made the trip to Waco about 7-8 years ago and you have a beautiful campus and very good facilities. I saw where you keep your Bear (I forgot his name), and when he ran around the field before the game it was the coolest pre-game romp outside of Boulder. Really hoping we're conference brothers for the long haul.

No question about it. That's why i can't understand Nebraska leaving. They are so enamored over Osborne they don't realize what they have done. Good luck getting a Texas kid to go there now. We are catching hell for advoacting that the Texas schools should stay together. Obviously $ is why we are doing it but BU, UT, Aggy, and Tech have been conference mates since 1956. UT, Aggy, BU have been together since 1914. OU and OSU were original members of the SWC with us. We love the regional rivalries. That's what makes college football what it is. That's why I watched the Iowa State/Iowa game. This superconference **** wlll destroy all of that. This aint the NFL

We have 2 bears. One is named Joy (Named after former BU president Herb Reynolds wife) Can't remember the other one. We quit bringing the bears to the game which is crap. Fkn PETA

Not exactly sure.
NU through away about as much history with the north schools as you guys have with the south. TO has a monster ego and could not take it take for a short time he was not considered the Almighty One.

Osborne is a crybaby and a fraud. When the conferences came together UT wanted to bring up the academic integrity among all schools. OU, CU, and Nebraska were bringing in Prop 48 thugs from California, Texas, and Florida to dominate the Big 8. None of them gave a damn about school. When that was taken away from Osborne he quit. All of the sudden Iowa State, Missouri, and Kansas State became competitive. Made the conference strong. When Osborne took over as AD he wanted to get away from UT because of what they did. If Beebe wasn't around and Starr had been president longer than a freaking week (Big 12 crap started the day after he became president) they might be still here.

I know that all schools are working on contingency plans in case this doesn't work but the thought of all us going to the Big East is ludicrous. ACC is a possibility but nobody would prefer it compared to the Big 12.

Sadly I have not been to a game in the north. Mostly because we have sucked *** all these years (Thank you Robert Sloan). One of my goals is to attend BU/Kansas game at Phog Allen but it seems we always play them during the week. Love to stick it those bball snootys. One of my friends in Rotary who is our president this year is an Iowa State grad. Also I work here in Waco in real estate and I have done some deals with jon spelman. He was a member of the dirty 30. Good man

I'm looking for a hundred or so acres to build a compound on. You got any leads? :jimlad:

Sorry, couldn't resist dude.

That's my vote. Remove Beebe and make Ken Starr the commissioner of the big 12. If this conference has a chance Beebe needs to be removed immediately. That would be the first sign the big 12 might be moving forward.

Hey Baylor fan,

Do you guys get tired of the ignorant media telling you Baylor belongs in a juco conference along with ISU? Is their something like a slander suit to get some positive press? At least get them to do some research before they write their drivel.

(except when playing ISU)

well im glad to see the baylor fan didnt get ripped to shreds like the a&m fan (i think we scared him off). im with baylor on this one and hopefully even if OU/OSU/faggies/UT/TTU leave we can still bring in schools like BYU/Houston/TCU and a few other schools and get back to at least 10 teams for now and move up from their.

The uneducated media rips us. The ones that actually research and investigate the situation have praised us. I wouldnt put anything pass Starr. Baylor gets picked on because of the football team ineptness but do not F with schools like BU, Duke, Wake, and Vandy. Our law schools will slaughter you. Starr is a Duke law graduate

The rumor was BYU was set to come into the conference. There was going to be an announcement the day before the BYU/Texas game. That was set until President flamer announced OU is looking. All hell broke loose after that. In all honesty OU is just leveraging to get more money. I doubt they are leaving. I really do not want Aggy to leave. I can't stand them but they bring a lot to the conference and we enjoy the rivalry. We started playing them in 1899.

Baylor's in the same shape as us. Being told we don't belong, even though we've been busting our butts to get the work done to belong while playing nice with the others in the room until someone tries to take our toy. aTm is not.

We reached out to Condoleezza Rice to see if she was interested in taking over Baylor before we hired Ken Starr. I think her name has been thrown in the hopper for the next Big 12 commissioner.
