I believe Ledger would be getting the exact same amount of attention for his performance in this role were he still alive. That was one of the greatest villain performances I've ever seen. I mean, the part when he's walking out of the hospital and his magic trick...? He gets the audience to like him! Ledger's Joker is the absolute personification of chaos. Everyone (characters in the movie) believe he's crazy but you can tell the Joker is well aware of all that he does

Seriously - him trying to blow up the hospital only to have to deal with a malfunctioning trigger mechanism which he shook around a little bit in frustration, and then it works, and he just turns his back to the imploding building and walks away - I was just rolling when I saw that

The whole time dressed as a candy striper! Instant classic

How about Steve Buschemi as the Riddler?

I like Buscemi a lot. His role in Con Air was just awesome...not to mention Armageddon.

I think he could fit that role well.

I dunno - even in Con Air when he played that sociopathic murderer, he was still a little bit an over-the-top kind of goofball. But the more I think about it, the more I could probably warm up to him playing the role.

I'm not getting why everyone says that the Riddler needs to be way more psycho than the Joker. The Riddler is an intellectual, very composed and refined, who likes to outwit the most worthy opponents. The Joker, in contrast, is an engine of chaos and he thrives on anarchy. I suppose you could argue that both get their kicks out of watching chaos ensue as rules are broken down. Are too many people remembering Frank Gershin's Riddler? Cuz that dude was a nutball. I remember the Animated Series version, which was far more stable.

That's true. I think we are all crazy over Ledger's performance right now, we just want to see more.
