How do you get there, and once there what to do?

I ate some mushrooms in Larch circa 2011. I remember walking out of the dorm room to pee and the hallway was miles long. Took a deep breath before I embarked on my journey and all of a sudden I was there. Trying to piss between 2 dudes while tripping is not fun.

Did you make the mistake of looking in the mirror on the way out? I stared at myself in my bathroom mirror on mushrooms once. Wouldn't recommend it.

No I gtf out of there. The walls were breathing though and my unit felt like it was sagging to the floor (it obviously wasn't.) The Katy Perry halftime show was as traumatizing as anything.

This might be the funniest line in the history of popular music --

"This is the worst trip I've ever been on."

Had some mushrooms a couple times while at Iowa State. One time in particular a group of us just walked around town for a while, which was great. Someone had the bright idea of going into a few bars. Lumpy’s was where it went bad for me. Too, too, too close down in that dungeon.

I couldn’t get out of there fast enough.

I've never had a remotely bad time with mushrooms (taken them 5-6 times). Some life changing moments in those trips. I'll probably never do a full trip again (just don't have a need/desire), but I've had slightly more than a microdose in the past few years and it was great.

Every time I tried acid (only twice), it was pretty awful. I will never touch that **** again.

Shrooms bring out your feelings. So if you're in a bad place don't take them. I personally have never had a bad experience. Micro dosing is wonderful btw.

Agree with this. Psilocybin is so much easier on your body, in my experience. I've never felt more "not in control" than I have on acid. I had friends who would take it and go out barhopping or go to metal concerts, and I feel like that kind of sensory overload would have had me cowering in the corner or starting a fight. I much preferred to be outside, preferably away from large groups, and stay as peaceful and serene as possible.

The other big difference is that with mushrooms, if you want to be done, you just go to bed. You pleasantly drift off, and when you wake up, you're be fine. Acid doesn't let you go until it's done with you. And good luck trying to sleep.

Never done anything like this...way too afraid to even try...quite a few of my friends do and have experimented with this type of thing. I find this thread very interesting and yet I have no desire to engage in anything remotely close to this experience!

Our experiences are very, very similar.

The last time I took acid I lived out the line from Fear and Loathing “you can see yourself acting like the village idiot and there’s nothing you can do to stop it”.

Mushrooms, I agree, are WAY better than acid. I’ve had the same experiences, and the same as @Mr Janny as well.

Acid is really hard to get right. I will never do acid again. The two or three times i did are enough. Mushrooms are easy, but for me, I need to be away from crowds even with them. I can start feeling claustrophobic.

Don't get me wrong, acid can be enjoyable. I just have found that it can be pretty unforgiving when the circumstances aren't right. There's much more leeway with mushrooms. With that said, I haven't done either since my twenties. There are plenty of other ways to alter my consciousness. Maybe when my kids are grown up, and I retire, and want to spend the weekend watching Terry Gilliam movies, I might try mushrooms again, but barring that, I don't have much desire to go back to it.

Mushroom trips are waves of emotions. I don't have any desire to do them ever again because i know that when it's good it's going to go away and when it's bad I just want the good to come back. I had the opportunity to try DMT 7 or 8 years ago when I was in a really bad spot and I'm glad I tried that. Not sure if I'll ever give hallucinogens another go.
