Average Joe Cyclone Fan contribute to NIL

Will there be an opportunity for the average fan to contribute to an NIL fund for Iowa State players? If not, someone needs to get one going. Most of us aren’t millionaires or even close to that, but I’m sure we could get a large number of average joe fans to donate to an NIL fund. I hope this option is available. I would love to donate and, knowing our rabid fan base, I’m sure others would as well.

I have been contributing since the Orr years. Cyclone Club, MBB, WBB, football tickets. Experienced changing donation levels to maintain seating preferences. Experienced increased ticket prices. Now in my golden years I am maxed out. NIL will not be anywhere on my list of things to support.

Not exactly sure.
I hate the whole idea of NIL and college athletics. Feel free to give to your heart's content, as for me, I shell out enough money as it is. I'll pass.
With two kids attending ISU, donating to the cyclone club, season tickets for everyone; I’m kinda tapped out. Especially when my kids can’t even get subsidized loans and now I find out most athletes get full pell grants.

First, thank you.

Second, those ticket increases were because we couldn’t pay players. Your money goes further now

Yeah I don’t think those on this board want to pony up money to college freshman who may or may not stay. Now can Dennis albaugh carve off .2% of his net worth every year for this? There’s an idea.

If an average fan can’t give $5 a month ($60 year) ($.17 a day) to the NIL fund then we might as well accept an invitation to C-USA because that is where our fans (collectively) are willing to compete. Every little bit is going to count.

Now do when bigger fanbases with wealthier donors are able to make that look like a drop in the bucket so it doesn't matter what the common ISU fans collect.

If this is the attitude of the common ISU fan then we will fail. And unfortunately that attitude is completely consistent with what we have seen in the past. People have the capacity to donate even if it is at small amounts; they simply choose not to because we are collectively a very cheap fanbase.

Give what you can...no one ever wants to force someone to give beyond their means. If you can afford $5 a month...great...same for $50 or even $500. It all adds up. Now, need to make sure the NIL Board has good sense and doesn't waste the donations...that will be the trick. So far it looks like they are taking the right steps...

They have Georges who will understand and look out for MBB, MAC understanding and looking out for FB. So, right there is a solid pair. With Mac having coached at so many other places, I’m a little surprised that he volunteered for this.

It was in another thread weeks ago but in the Big 12, Iowa State is in the top half of number of alumni and is dead last in dollars donated. We are frugal (to put it mildly).

Between season tickets, cyclone club donations, CRTC donations, alumni association membership....If I am going to throw some extra coin in for a NIL pot, the board better be 100% transparent as every single penny should be open booked for anyone that contributes to see where every cent goes towards. Also better be ZERO admin fees

We have like the second largest alumni association membership in the B12. I rejoined this year after not for many years and I honestly can’t tell you what the point was. I received a calendar and a coffee tumbler (tumbler was for rejoining). Outside that, i don’t see a benefit there.

This means we have people giving $55 a year to get a calendar, maybe we can get $55 from the rest of the AA members if the club sends them a calendar also.

I agree. Why should the fans contribute to pay for a fund to pay players, when the NCAA and the schools don’t have to pay the players but reap all the revenue.

It’s like professional sports when the rich owners want a fancy stadium and the residents of the community have to pay additional taxes to help build the stadium
