2009 Audio Q5, sport steering, 3.2L. Bought used at 75k miles in 2017. Handles like a sports car. Great power for an SUV. Controls could have been better thought out. We're very diligent with service. Now at 135k with no issue (knock on wood). Absolutely love it.

2012 A6 loaded with about 90K. Absolute beast in the snow. I'm a sucker for convenience features, but I'm not interested in anything that screams look at me. I hate the $200 oil changes and at 100K miles, I'm looking at replacing the motor mounts for a few hundred, but other wise I can't say enough good things about it. My previous car was a 2005 A6 that I ran up to about 125K when the timing chain tensioner snapped.

I have a 20 year old a6 with 180k on it and is by my favorite vehicle I have owned. Great thru the snow. Its showing its age now though. Hopefully getting a newer one soon as wife totaled the van on Wednesday.

Sorry, don't know anything about Audis, but why $200 for an oil change?

I owned an A-6 currently I own a Q-7 and an A-3 never have had anything go wrong with the three of them ever. Oil changes and regular maintenance thats it. No snow can stop them they go beast mode. I know they are made by the same company but the lower end VW's are not in the same class as Audi's in general. I love my A-3 but wish I bought the A-4, looks better IMO. Careful on options as prices can get way out of hand quickly. If you don't go crazy you can get a reasonably equipped Audi for good value.

IIRC oil change and routine maintenance for my Honda Civic is already ~100 bucks and I only change oil once a year as i work close to home. Wife’s car is more expensive. But yeah, these days oil change is quite expensive

Not exactly sure.

I have a diesel pickup that doesn’t crack 100 bucks and I run blended oil in that. Not sure if they are giving handsies in the back while you wait for 200 dollars.

With all the tire rotations and other minor stuffs they charged it’s closer to 100 bucks. I think the oil change itself wasn’t bad but the other maintenance can add up too

I would never buy a used Audi, especially the "S" class. They're expensive to work on and a timing chain repair can easily run $7000+. I bought my BMW new since it was a year old model and I got a great discount on it. Nice AWD system with the M sport and cold weather packages but I did add a warranty on top of that. Mercedes seems to have the best reliability of the Germany brands while Audi is the most expensive to own.

I don't think the OP is talking S models. I kinda wanted a S5 but opted for a loaded A5 for a LOT less money. For as little as I drive now if I want sporty I can always drive the Boxster or even the old 924S. Settling for the first automatic transmission of my life was kind of a big deal though.

BTW, I kinda like the look of the BMW 400 series couple even though the car snobs want to diss them as being too soft and all. Ain't nothing wrong with a little luxury GT type option in the lineup.

Wife has BMW and loves it. I actually hear lots of reliability issues with Mercedes.

@Farnsworth has seen our Beamer, it’s a machine. Got the oil change package when we bought it. Maybe $700 for life and the car gets washed and vac/interior wiped down every time.
Love it.
