Looks really unlikely that I will be able to go to Canada to fish this year, so was looking for some place I could go for a few days and have a decent shot at getting some walleyes. Prefer to fish on a lake as the rivers have just been too up and down the last couple years. Thanks.

Depending on where your located but we were just out on the Missouri River reservoir Lake Francis Case by Platte last week and smoked the walleyes all 3 days. Big water, not too bad on water traffic. Multiple boat ramps along the reservoir (white swan, pease creek, snake creek, and more.) Less than 3 hours from NW Iowa

I agree with this. Several guys and I would always drive all the way up to Lake of the Woods, but then found that the Missouri River above Fort Randall Dam in South Dakota has great walleye fishing and much less drive for us.

Length limit goes off July 1st, so can keep some 14 inchers if having trouble finding bigger fish. My family has been fishing that for 30+ years between White Swan and Platte. Lots of people from NW Iowa go there. Fish this year were fat and very clean.

Casino nearby has a hotel too.

We just fished Bitter Lake in SD on Monday, caught 100 walleye in about 5 hours. Half were between 12”-15” but caught several over 20”. Good luck

I have a couple co workers that will not bring me along but pull in walleye from big creek pretty regularly as well as at brushy creek and below the salorville damn. Key for me is getting out of the house without a kid in tow.

Every place mentioned are good bets. I’d suggest doing some research, pick a place then come back here for advice. By the looks of it, you’ll get credible feedback. I personally have fished a lot of the places already mentioned. All have pluses and minuses, most of which would be drive time.

Have a cabin on Leech. My nephews just got back and Walleyes were hard to come by. Pretty sure the weather played a part of it since it was in the 90's and still.
Tough getting walleyes on Leech in the middle of the summer. But it’s a very good bass lake too...

Seems the same over all up in WI too. Most reports I'm reading are pretty sporadic.

Lots of water everywhere too which I think is screwing things up.

This time of year I would head to SD. Any of the Missouri River reservoirs, Lewis and Clark, Sharpe, Francis Case and Oahe, are great. I especially like Lake Oahe at Mobridge or Pierre this time of year. You can troll with lead core using crankbaits or bass spinnerbaits or pull slow death rigs on bottom bouncers.

Always had good luck at Devils Lake. Haven’t fished it this time of year. Scenery not great. But usually decent fishing.
