I had a microchip with a ID num put in my dog.
So if she gets lost I can report it and if she is found and taken to a vet or animal control they can scan her and see the ID number to return her. Have never lost her so not sure how well it actually works in practice though lol.

So here is some irony. Last night our beagle escaped and didn't come home. This was the first time in 6 years (her entire ownership) that she didn't come back. We worried. But she was found alive and well at a house about 3 blocks away. She wasn't wearing her tags (we are bad about that). They were going to call the shelter in the morning but saw our signs we hung.

I kept thinking about this thread and how weird it was that my dog disappears after this thread.

I almost was ready to take a pup off your hands. I had my doubts about our dog being alive.

All is well, however. Good luck with your dogs.

Apparently I have a unique situation since my yard is not fenced and I do not chain my dogs. However, this is the norm in this area since I live miles from town and there is far more tundra than dwellings.

My dogs tend to stay close to the house but go out on scavenger hunts every now and then. When they return from one of their scavenger hunts they normally do so with a large bone (usually from a reindeer) that they chew on for some time.

as a proud owner of one of tigershoops beagles, I can say they are great dogs. Our little Ruthie (i picked the dog, my wife picked the name) is agreat dog, we also have her trained with the bell when she needs to go to the bathroom. Also my parents have a white lab and our little beagle worships the ground Copper walks on, it is hilarious!

UPDATE!

We have been busy finding homes all over the country for the pups...Hannah went to Cresco, IA; Gracie is going to Madison, WI; Noelle is headed to Virginia, Antonio was bought by a lady from England for her son in Iowa, and the other 3 are still looking for homes. Please let me know if you have somebody that you know looking for a beagle pup!
