I'm not mad. I think it's funny that you have to cry on a message board because you didn't get in. If going to a game like this is so important then get your priorities straight. If you worked, you knew 4 months in advance this game was scheduled. Take work off. Have homework? You had all weekend and after the game to do it. Got a test? Well talk to your professor and organize something. If you really wanted to get into the game, you would have.

lol, you don't get how the world works very well. Do you?

They used to have the KU and Iowa games as actual tickets rather than standing room only. I wouldn't be surprised if they returned to this system. Maybe give out the tickets a week before the game based on the number of games you've attended up to that point. This should also help with attendance to the early season games. It should be easy to do with the tickets being tied to the ID cards.

I like this idea. Have the tickets available a week beforehand or something with each day opening up to more students based on how many games they have attended to that point. That can be tracked now with the card scanning.

I received texts from a few friends saying they gave up on trying to get in after waiting for an hour+. Anyone else have this issue?

pick you poison:

1) turn students away for KU

or

2) have a half empty student section for every other game.

2 is what was happening before the overselling strategy was started.

It was a cluster****! A couple of the exterior Hilton doors actually broke because of how many people were pushing in right after they opened them.

Yeah, the crowd was dumb, the bottom trying to push to the top, and the top had nowhere to go. They ended up just blowing by the people scanning cards at half of the doors.

If you were smart, you would have bought corner balcony tickets for the exact same price as student tickets. Plus you get the break games too. Don't risk not getting in.

Getting into Hilton tonight was insane. I thought another person and me were gonna squish a girl to death because of how hard I was being pushed from all around. The system is terrible.

I waited for 7 hours to get in, and when they finally opened the doors everyone shoved right in breaking one door and multiple people including myself got cut up. Needless to say, I wish it would be like that every game.

You know how we got to this point? Students not showing up in large quantities in multiple games last year. Good for Pollard. Show up consistently and it won't be oversold. Show up for 1 game a year and this is what you get.

probably the sorority girls who dont even know our record who got in
This was something that ****** me off.

The group of three I was a part of was some of the last students let in at 7:20ish, roughly 45 minutes before tip (the people "scanning" tickets were telling us only 50 more students would be let in.)

Got seats in the top row of the upper deck of the student section. Stood next to two girls who:

1) were ******** at 8:50 that The Bachelor ended in 10 minutes, and they were going to miss it.
2) weren't paying attention to the game, goofing around, and one yelled out, "OMG, you almost hit me in the earring!"

For the sanity of everyone, let's only allow true fans entry into the game.

This is a little off topic, but I for one was a little disappointed on how they handled the crowd before the game. All the pushing and shoving and general acting like douchbags that happened trying to get in the game was terrible. Kansas is the only game that this has happened. It leaves me convinced that all the students that acted like that don't usually go to basketball games.

the entire pushing problem could have been mitigated by pre-scanning the first large groups id's (people on top of the steps at 6:30 and allowing people into the entryway before 7. instead they elected to try and handle 2,000+ people all at once and it resulted in a cluster**** that was frankly dangerous, i'm 6'2"+ and 200+ pounds and i was getting tossed around like a rag doll and almost had my arm broken by being wedged between another person and a doorway while i was crushed against the adjacent glass, **** poor execution by the hilton staff, this is why they need to let students in more than 1 entrance, 2 with 1,000 people or 4 with 500 people is a hell of a lot safer than what transpired monday

Hate to say it but I walked in with a friend 10 minutes before tip off and got first row behind the hoop in top deck. (And yes I go to the other games). There were plenty of empty seats further up at that point too, so I'm not sure what happened.

Only thing I got from that article is that they need to sell 1500 more student season tickets to fill up Hilton

While I agree they need to pre-scan tickets, it isn't the Hilton staff's problem that students can't handle things the way they're handled the other 15 home games. The problem is students forget that the ushers are doing their job and bull rushing them is completely inappropriate. Anyone who knocks down an usher bull rushing the doors should be immediately escorted out of Hilton.

You have to do something to keep students from sprinting through the doors as that's a huge liability. And the students going through one door is for this reason exactly. Students running through one door you can isolate them to half of the building. Running through all 3 you now have them running in every direction with the general public as well. Also you don't want the people who donate money to the program getting ****** off because of the crap they have to deal with if they have students with them at the doors.
