Anti-Big 12 Bias: A Brief Study

I might bite on the ESPN conspiracy, but what would Fox have to gain by snubbing teams/games that are in their broadcast portfolio? Seems counter productive.

They maybe using the Friday night/ Sat noon games to get you to view Fox (since they are the next ones up) and bring attention to our game once you're there.

How hard would it be to stick in the times for the Big 12 games into those promos? And why wouldn't you promote your other games, including a prime time night game, to a large audience that is intetested in football? It doesn't make much sense...unless perhaps you are trying to drive down the value of the Big 12 TV property.

I think the Big 12 should try to do a number of things to improve our position.

1. Consider moving to 8 conference games and adding a cupcake. Improve perception of conference by bloating everyone's record.

2. Explore additional media partners like Amazon or Apple. More $$$ === better facilities, coaches, players, etc. For over a decade, ESPN has been working to drive down the value of the Big 12 property. If we fix this, the bias problem goes away.

3. Maybe explore league rule changes to increase our talent pool (think Nebraska under Osborne). Not sure if there's a way we can increase the number of people who get on the roster + strength program.

I don't think it can be overstated how much KU underperforming so badly to start the year and then ripping through the top teams in the conference hurt the reputation of this conference. The only team with a losing record to beat 3 top 25 teams in a row. It just looks bad for KU and the conference.

Was really hoping the won yesterday & became bowl eligible because whomever the matched up with there, if a decent amount of players played (biggest variable), they could've thumped some other conference's team.

All likelihood the RB & CBs wouldn't have played (going into the NFL so not worth it), but a man can dream.

It's clear, it's not a conspiracy. They simply want the Big 12 to shut up and go away. (Then pick off Kansas and maybe Arizona for basketball at scrap value). I will not be surprised in the least if the Big 12 Champ is snubbed from the playoffs this year. Watching how much love has been shown by the sports media towards Boise St., Army/Navy, Tulane and now the former outcast SMU this season made it clear: the cool, rich kids simply don't want us around.

The next step will be actual collusion amongst the BIG and SEC to avoid scheduling out of conference games against the Big 12. No head to head competition means further debasement of our conference teams. ESPN and Fox don't really want to have to pay the Big 12 in the next round of negotiations, anything to lower our valuations is their tactic.

TulaneArmy/Navy are no longer factors. Big 12 champ will get in. I wouldn’t be surprised if they jumped Boise.
